In order to remove the impeller on a PCM EX343 (2009) do you have to loosen the belt tensioner, and remove the housing to the raw water pump housing?

Don't remove the Pulley! just stick your (8 mm?) socket and extension through the pulley to get to the cover bolts. See pic I already posted. Better pic available tonight if you can wait...PM me flipside.Originally posted by ClemsonDaveLoosen tensioner

I was going to post a photo how to of this but I'm missing one picture because IT STARTED POURING DOWN RAIN plus my camera battery died. Note it hadn't rained for at least two months prior...then decides to pour on my 10 minute impeller project. Would have been 5 without the camera.

I guess I wasted a whole 15 seconds doing that. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:Originally posted by AirTool
Don't remove the Pulley!
I thought it would be easier to put it back on without having to line up the water pump bolts with the pulley holes. Either way works.Promo Team member

Re: RE: Removal of impeller - help
Not a big deal. I guess the bigger risks are that one drops an allen bolt down in the bildge and spends a while fishing it out. Bigger risk is that a newbie crossthreads one of the allen bolts and then has to buy a new pump cover or pump.Originally posted by ClemsonDaveI guess I wasted a whole 15 seconds doing that. I love taking things apart. But on this one, I'll stick to the grease monkey philosphy, "Don't take no **** off you don't have to." Especially if you are doing it on the water.
