New MasterCraft tower Mirror - Installation tips?

My boats in the shop, but I got this cool Mirror to mount....when it gets back home.

I thought that I had seen some installation tips for this type of mirror, but I can't find them again....so....if I could get some tips and/or lessons learned it would help a bunch.

I noticed that this mirror has a quick disconnect to leave the clamp and remove the Mirror....I had not expected that. Does that suggest that I should remove this dude at certain times? When are those times, while towing?

    Any help would be welcomed....thanks

When you pick up your boat ask the shop for some of the 3M tape they use to wrap around the tower to protect the paint and prevent slippage.

I do not know how many adjustments the MC mirror has so make certain you dry fit the location before you apply the tape--not easy to remove.

I'd tow with the mirror on and see if it becomes loose. If it does apply some Loctite if you don't want the extra hassle of r/r every time you tow.

my buddy only removes his to keep it from having bug guts all over it. make sure you dont install it to high or you wont be able to see when the bimini is up. maybe do a dry run with electrical tape first to make sure its in an ok spot.

Here's a shot of Air206's installation. He has the same mount.

Can see rider at 75' to short line (not much at longer lines) - It is narrow though, the flats are tough (there is a compound mirror that you can use instead). The balance in placement was low enough to get under the bimini but high enough to be out of the way when driving with the seat flipped up. The Cipa is clamped to the mount upside down to get a better view under the bimini...........

Thanks for the help....I don't think that my bimini will be as big an obstacle....mine is quite a bit higher that the one pictured below.

Is that 3M tape basically just double sided tape?

                Nice Bimini--who makes it?

The tape is thin rubber with the adhesive on only one side. Someone on this site found it. I'll dig through the forums.

The Bimini was installed at the same time as the tower....MD Boats got it taken care of...I think that they company they use is called Smitty's (here in Indianapolis). It is really nice. I can walk under it with minimal interference...I am 6'-5". What's nice is that I didn't think to ask for that type of clearance, but the Marks at MD took care of it for me....very nice surprise. It's a bit tricky to get expanded and in place, but it's worth the effort. Also, it matches the burgundy color on the boat perfectly.

As far as the fuzzy faces....This picture is from a houseboat trip that my church's high school ministry takes each summer. This is taken at Cumberland Lake (in the afternoon...nice water huh?) this year. Being in a leadership role for the ministry, I tend get a little concerned about posting high school students pictures on the internet without their permission....seems goofy, but you can't be too careful these days. I just want to make sure that I don't violate anything concerned with those students. Kind of like an over-protective father.
