    Perfect Pass question

Changed plugs on GT-40 last night, went out this morning and ran good. Boat seemed to surge alot and not hold speed, would go from 20 to 22 to 18.5 mph. Towards the end of the morning, my buddy turned to head back the other way and coming out of the turn the boat decelerated. I jumped in the drivers seat with PP on and started up, got up to about 18 MPH and a # sign came up between the set speed and actual speed then boat started to decelerate. I did a second test run and the # sign popped up just for a second and PP worked fine. Any thoughts on the large variation of speed control and the # sign?

    RE: Perfect Pass question

The # means that you don't have the throttle opened up enough for the PP to maintain its set speed.

So PP will try to go to neutral? What about the MPH swing? the boat has never done it before. Thanks for the # response, that makes sense!!

Yes, if you don't have enough throttle, it will try to control up, fail and drop back, then then try to run the throttle up again creating these big surges. The newer Stargazer actually has a message saying "Throttle setting too low." rather than the #.
