Replace prestege bow stops with Ramlin plastic

Well my carpeted bow stops on my older prestige trailer were looking a bit worn, the wood was rotting and the carpet coming off. I called Whitelake marine, and ordered the Ramlin bow stops, just in hopes I could make them fit. When I got them and put them on I could not believe the bolt holes lined up almost perfectly! Bolts were tight but fit. Then I tried to tighten the wench and it was hitting on the bow stops because the Ramlin ones are quite a bit longer. I could have turned them upside down and made it work. (But that would have looked like doors on a motorcycle.) So I measured down from the old bolt holes on the old ones, 3 inches. Marked that on the new plastic ones, and had a fiend cut them off, and round off the corners. They looks very nice, and much better than the wood/carpet.

I figured it out, but it took me a while. On the third read I finally read "wench" as "winch" not "wrench". Fourth time I got it.

Pics would be nice though...and what did he use to cut the pieces?

Woops sorry wrong kind of winch!

I will try to get some pics. The boat is about 15 miles away in storage.

He just used a table saw, band saw, wheel sander, and then a router to round over the edge. It looks very good. Much better than the carpeted bunk stops that were on there.

How much were the Ramlin bow stops from White Lake?

Ok well I got out there tonight and got some pics.

Here is where I cut them off, 2.5 inches below the center of the bottom holes. I marked a line and ran them through the table saw. You can also see where the right and radius is not quite perfect, but darn close.

Make sure to put them on “long” before cutting them down and "mark" it with the winch handle to make sure you cut enough off.

How do the new bow stops look? LOTS better than the rotten carpeted ones!

The bow stops from White Lake Marine were 59.80 + 12.76 shipping for a total of 72.47 to my door.

Be careful on a steep ramp...your bow might land under the pad.

                  Otherwise, it looks nice.

And you spelled "winch" correctly....so as not to confuse me.

Even on the old ones, the bow would go under if the trailer was in too far. I just leave about 4" of the wheel well sticking up and I hve been good.
