Numeric keypad reccomendation to all with keyless ignition

I have seen several post about one of the numeric buttons failing. The ignition system allows for 2 user codes. Due to the failures I have read about I have changed my codes so neither uses the same button as the other. For example 1,3,2,3 and 8,9,7,6. If you have a single button fail this allows use of the other code which may prevent you from being stranded.

That's a good idea. I have yet to program mine. All I do is push the start button.

Hey gride300 - I wouldn't expect too much help with your question as in the recent past you have posted nothing but useless comments, most likely in search of 1000 posts regardless of how useless they are.

dude it's a very recent post. search

i already posted something to my regards earlier and i've always disliked your online demeanor so its quite alright. back to topic, someone help this guy out. i'll go to my friends house and find the manual that came with his identical boat. i won't even use it if you post it.

Good reminder...that's been talked about before that only one button went bad.

Just to clarify, there are three total codes 1) master embedded code 2) primary user code 3) secondary user code.

One can also use the master embedded code to clear the two user codes...then you all you have to do is press "start" without entering any code (as someone mentioned). I had the honor of burning in the master embedded code of a replacement keypad, and I used the factory code because that was what CC had on file. Had I thought about it, I would have picked all codes that would have preserved the master buttons and the 1/2 and 5/6 keys as shown below. I did think about choosing a new master code just so dealers wouldn't have it...but I've heard they have a secret code that works on all. I find that hard to believe though.

Make sure the system indicator light is OFF.
Enter the Master Embedded Code and press the 1/2 key and the
5/6 key at the same time to erase the system user codes.
The keyless ignition will now act as if there are no codes in memory.
Pressing the START key will unlock the system and pressing the
STOP key will lock it without entering a code. Follow the steps in
“Programming The Primary User Code” in this section.

The owners manual (including the online version here) is straight forward explaining how to chage the codes. And AirTool is of course correct there are 3 including the master code.

                    Thanks jaybird

...and FYI to all. My keypad buttons on my 06 didn't go bad...it was some kind of internal bug that would allow me to use the master code but not be able to program either of the two user codes. Nor could I use the master code to clear the user codes and just press start. The darn thing worked but only with the master code.

I exchanged a few emails with CC and they walked me through the programming biz over the phone to confirm the snag...then took care of me with a new keypad. (I did transfer the warranty.)

                    I love CC !

                      Yes Airtool I agree,
CC and PCM have always had great customer support.
I recently noticed my PCM water pump had a date code that had been recalled in a 2003 service update. I notified PCM this spring (2009) and they sent me a new pump no questions asked. Impressice service to repace a pump after 6 years.

                        Airtool,

By the way my stalling problem was definatly the relay plug. No problems since I fixed the relay base plug with a pick.

Excellent. I did read in my pcm book that the fuel pumps don't turn on until "crank" mode. Did you tell me you heard your pumps running when the ignition was turned on?...before cranking?

I wasn't able to check mine the other day when I got her out on the water.

I flipped through those books and didn't see any schematics....but I didn't check every section.

Airtool - Thanks for the advice on the pics, I didn't even think about hotmail auto resizing them for me when they were emailed. Now I just email pics to myself instead of taking the time to go to my photo editor and resize everything...
