    Water Leak in Engine

I have a 1998 Ski Nautique with the GT40 engine. Yesterday when I was out on the lake I opened the motor cover to check the oil and I noticed water dripping from some type of connector. On the port side towards the bottom of the engine, you have the fresh water intake strainer that has the hose going towards the engine. this hose is connected to what looks like a "hot dog bun" size metal piece that looks to be a hose connector for various other hoses. It looks to have a leak, like it wasn't drained properly in the winter. I have had the boat for two years and haven't noticed it.

Does anyone know what this piece is called?

    Thanks for the help.

Transmission oil cooler... could be leaking from a connection, I'd check those first...
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Here is a pic of it. Has anyone ever replaced it? It seems to be leaking on the left side. You can see in the picture just above the left hose fitting there is some white buildup where it is leaking.

i have never seen that leak, but i have seen other techs tighten the clamps too tight to cause the brass housing to crack

you could use jb weld, but that is just a band-aid
