    Help...Starboard Ballast on a 220

The starboard ballast is not pulling in water. The indication light turns on, but there is no sound from the pump to indicate water is flowing. Has anyone encoutered this before? Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.

    RE: Help...Starboard Ballast on a 220

Check the fuses, I think They are located in the rear next to the battery switches. We had problems with our 06 220 (I think the first year with Jabsco Reversible pumps) All you have to do is just push the breaker back in. This was kinda a regular problem with those pumps because the impellers where just barely too big and would get stuck in one position and couldn't reverse. The fixed the problem and I haven't had any issues with any of the 07 236s or the 08 230s. Hope this is helpful, try the breakers under the dash if need be.

unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be the fuse? Any other suggestion...take it to the dealer?

plug in the port side wire to the starboard pump and turn it on. That will tell you if it is a bad pump or in the wiring somewhere.

Is this a Jabsco pump? Mine is out now on my 220. Dealer told me to take plate off of bottom, its got 3 screws in it, I took mine off and the impeller is right under the plate . The shaft is turning but the impeller is not, these pumps are very quiet without the impeller turning.I'm off to the shop tomorrow to get it taken care of. Hope this helps at least it's something to try if you have the same pump.

I can't figure it out. I'm taking the boat to the dealer in a couple of weeks for an oil change and will have them take a look. Right now, I'm just using the belly ballast and setting the wakeplate to have maximum pop...it works well, I took a nasty crash this weekend.

I had the same problem on my 07 210. It is an easy fix. My pump was very quiet too when the impeller was not turning. More than likely it is the impeller.

It turned out the impeller got jammed. The dealer said it was a common problem for that year, so I had them change out all of them. I took the boat out this weekend and it worked fine.

On a side note, the mechanic didn't put in the plug and the boat almost sunk. So, I pull the trailer and boat into the water and my wife says she's having trouble getting power. So I jump on to check the battery swich, which was turned off and heard the sound off rushing water. I immediately pop open the engine cover and see water streaming in. So, I jumped out to get the boat out of the water. I was SOFA-KING pissed, if the power was working, my wife surely would have swam to shore. She's new to boating and it definitely freaked her out. How do you forget to put the plug back into the friggin boat or atleast tell me about it. I have a hydro-gate, so I can't tell if it's in or not. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

that is owners responsibility to put the plug in

What ever dude...they should have said something...that's the techs fault. And if you're going to leave some snide remark, keep it to yourself and your lame HUMAN BUILT = HUMAN FIXED...it's not completely obvious you're biased...CERTIFIED MARINE/PWC TECHNICIAN...if my boat's engine got messed up, you better believe they'd have a lawsuit on their hands and if you were my mechanic, you'd be named too!
