This is a question for any of you engine guys out there, do you know what kind of management they ran on the GT-40s? It looks like a Ford unit but obviously it has to be unique for marine use as many of the usual sensors are irrelevant. Is it EEC V, OBD I, OBD II? Has anyone ever tried to pull a map of one before? Any of these answers are appreciated. What I'm really looking for is a basemap for tuning a GT-40 with aftermarket management.

RE: GT-40 EEC info please
I have been able to pull codes using the OBD 1 process. Grounding the STI and putting a test light on the STO terminal. OBD 2 is a automotive standard, specifying the type of plug on the vehicle for diagnostic connections, and the location of the plug.
I tow with a 1996 Aerostar, it is OBD 2, EEC IV. My 1997 Ski has a GT-40 engine, I have noticed a lot of similarities with the two.
My guess, the engine managment is a marine adaptation of EEC IV.
The GT-40 service manual has good info on the engine managment system on it. I think it would be useful to you to download it.

RE: GT-40 EEC info please
That's what I gathered, thanks for the info. Are there any computer programs/cables that will let you look at the various maps, AFR, timing, etc.?How 'bout a little reverse action...

RE: GT-40 EEC info please
I have not gotten a chance to hook my GT-40 Marine engine to a computer.
You might be able to get some info by finding someone who knows about modifying the engines when they were used in Ford vehicles. Early 1990 Broncos, or Pickups woud be a guess when the 351 was used, and prior to 1996 they are probably OBD 1.
