Who has experience with quality boat covers?

My 98 Nautique is my first boat and I've struggled with the boat cover issue for the year I've owned it. Since I have to store it outside, I've put the regular boat cover on it (a mid to low quality cover) and covered it with a blue tarp. For the winter time, I put a PVC framework within the boat to try and keep the cover taunt and not have puddles where water pools on the cover. This has worked semi-OK but is a real pain.

Last weekend, we pulled the boat 5 hours each way to the lake. Unfortunately, it was raining and the boat was a MESS inside and out with road dirt and grime. Yuk! I saw a guy at the lake that had a great looking cover that he keeps on it all the time, including when he tows it. He had it custom made with Sunbrella fabric at Adlee Covers Boats in Corona, CA. The cost is $1,150. That's alot of bucks, but they say it will last 8-9 years if properly cared for.

    Here are my questions:
    - Anyone have any experience with Adlee Covers Boats?
    - Can anyone recommend a better source in the Los Angeles area?
    - What are the issues with having a cover on the boat when towing? Is it about rubbing on the gel coat? Our typical trips are 1 - 6 hours each way.
-Adlee's covers go down 8-10" below the rub rail. Is that low enough? Do I need to cover lower on the boat so the sun doesn't bleach out the color on the sides? I've attached a photo of my boat. Fortunately, it doesn't get alot of direct sun where we store it.
    - Is Sunbrella the best fabric to use? Is Sunbrella Supreme better for my needs?
    - Any other tips or things to look out for?

It's a lot of bucks for me so I want to make sure I'm spending my bucks well. Your input is appreciated!

RE: Who has experience with quality boat covers?

as far as trailerring goes it just depends on what style cover. for example, my old mastercraft cover had two clips on each side where the tower legs are. then in the back above the transom was a double ratchet that pulled the cover taught. it wrapped down over the nose a bit and just under the rub rail, but did not cover the whole stern. you could do 85mph with it and no worries. i just switched to nautique and the brand new cover blows. it does not cover the full nose, has 2 ropes you have to tie, and 12 clips to route through eyes on the trailer, two pulleys, and a pole i had to install by cutting. it does the job and is nice material, but its hard to believe cc gets away with such a poopy cover, and it's not even towable. i guess all the other perks out weigh it so much it's not a priority for most. i too have to store my boat on the trailer outside

      Coversports...

MY cover made by "Brett" and I think the company is called coversports. Its awesome. It easy to put on and trailerable. Even at 75mph it hold great with absolutely no problems.

I love my Rankin. Unfortunately you just missed the group buy on them- but send me a PM anyways. I towed almost 3k miles with it last year- I cant say enough good things about it. The price was better than what youre quoting above as well.

I remove the sun skirts when trailering.

My boat is a 2000 Air and I have a cover that covers the entire boat, including the tower(laid down) and platform...includes side skirts and it's towable. I don't know who made it because it came with the boat when I bought it. Contact White Lake Marine and see if anyone there can remember who makes it. I believe they've sold several boats with a similar cover.

Brett from Coversports used to work for Rankin. Him and another guy split off, one does Bus one does Nautiques.

I have an Adlee sunbrella bimini they custom made for me about a year ago. Its top quality stuff. One of my friends had an Adlee bimini on his 81SN that still looked near new after 25 years. When I am due for a cover I would definatly get a bid from Adlee.

i had a friend custom make a cover for my 210, he put two tags in the centre of the cover and used shock cord which hooks over the tower tow point to hold it up in the centre (no messing with pvc inside) works a treat and completely towable. pics soon have to borrow a camera, can't afford one right now all money spent on boat and equip

PHXSANTE.....that boat looks aweseome. Looks like a stealth boat or something. Very clean, very sharp.
