Ya my shaper was home made. Went with a little larger shape this time. 11x16 or20" I think it was (more the size of the Ronix version) and could be used on both sides. Wanted to try that vs the extension I had for the spray pocket earlier in the thread. Plan to make the same thing again.
You can't tell in the video, but were driving in a circle - so we did not use up very much lake, but yes, zero traffic was nice.

I'm interested in how that size of shaper works out- been wondering about a larger one myself.

Love that shot! You might have to frame that one.

So I finally got on the water last week, new shaper and all ready to go....and then I dropped the shaper! Bye bye she went to the bottom of the lake before I could grab it. Was actually in the process of tying a bouy to it so it would float....ugh. So didn't get out after all. Will be out again Aug long. with another shaper in hand. (lanyard/bouy tied on land before hand!!!) Hah.

Nice! Can't wait to get the boat out. Have had a cold April so far here in Alberta. Is that an Inland Surfer board? Kinda looks like my Blue Lake. Was your ballast set up same as last post? I'm thinking about buying the Nauticurl Shaper. Will use that and my home made one together. I've heard of guys doubling up on shapers with good results.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on this thread. Even in Florida the water gets chilly over the Winter and we are looking forward to the Summer. Small clip from this weekend. Still getting used to my new/proper wakesurf board.

    800 in trunk (sumo long)
125 1/2 tank gas - usually full, but didn't hit gas station.
600 on floor (random fly high) best guess
    400 on seat (centered)
350 (small side sac fly high)
350 (ski locker small side sac fly high)
50 lb lead wake center on top of ski locker

    2,675 +/- incl shaper

    30+ feet of water

speed 8.5 - 11 depending on current. Start slow to form shape of wave. Too quick of start will flatten wave. Also have a acme 1868 prop I'm sure an old OJ prop will change the of the wake a little, too. The surf wake is very finicky. You can really feel the water pushing off the rudder. The best wake is when the boat avoids planning off and is in full porpoise mode. If that makes sense.

Good stuff. So did you have 300lb in ski locker again? How much on floor surf side and how much on seat? Gonna try to replicate that. Thx.

Tom, sorry to hijack your thread. First of all...googled banff and seems pretty cool. Scenery must be awesome. The bag is a fly high but randomly bought off eBay. It's super long and kind of narrow. Perfect for behind the engine. Wish I knew the model #. With my ballast system and the (3) bags i couldn't be happier. The shaper is in the water with bags full. It's really hard to suction the wake shaper to the hull so I get it as low as possible, but it's really just below the water line. Kindnof sprays in the boat. need to remodel and make abetter one that fits the step of the boat like you did.'I'll do that this winter. We wakeboard/surf on a river more or less so speed is hard to say. We are between 8.5 and 11 mph depending on current. We start off slow and avoid getting on plane. You're right about the speed n the video, as soon as I sped up the wake got perfect! Happy to keep you stoked all winter . We ride year round!

Wow! That wave is sweet! Best I've seen on the starboard side. Seems much larger than mine. I noticed your floor bag across the back runs the whole length of the bench. I have a fly high 750lb and it doesn't extend that long. Is that a fly high bag? Also, so what was your setup and speed that day? In the first vid when the driver said he sped up a little the wave looked totally perfect. Regarding the shaper pic in the water, was that after filling all the ballast or before? So jealous, I won't be getting out till June but did go cross country skiing in Banff yesterday, hah. Keep the vids coming, with those waves from you and Toms, you guys can try some 360's!

You guys inspired me to do better. Added more weight to back and surf side. I'll post video later. Fall riding is great. No one out for over two hours. I also wanted to follow up and say deeper water is definitely better. I'd say 15+ makes a difference. We were able to ride further back than ever before and even had a nice lip curling at times.
