1991 BareFoot Nautique installing a Wake Tower

I have a 1991 Barefoot Nautique and am considering installing a Wake Tower from New DImensions. Does anyone have this set up and can tell me if this set up will provide an adequate wake for boarding and wake surfing

I had a 92. I loved it for boarding. Not so much for surfing. There are a couple guys on this board that have got the weighting dialed in, I never could. Good luck.

Thanks. Maybe I will hear from them and they will tell me what they did to get the weighting dialed in.

I have a 91 w/ the 454. What you have is a 50K wake for much less. I would suggest the New Dimension tower and the pro-x sacs. Buy the v-drive style sacks for the rear and a large singe for under the bow. If you run a 40/60 front to rear you will be amazed at the wake. I think i run around 1000-1200 with full sacs. However we usually dont even fill them up. We surf a lot with the same set up. You have a boat that is almost impossible to find especially in good shape. They were the first generation of wakeboard boats that were way ahead of the first generation wake boats...if that makes sense.

Check out my posts for pics of the tower and ballast discussion.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks, My '91 is still in pretty good shape with only about 325 hrs... I think I saw your pics of your boat EXCELLENT! I am new to the wake boarding and surfing arena and If you don't mind a couple of more questions, 1) you mentioned installing 3 different sacks. i assume you are placing one each in the storage comparment on each side of the engine and the single sack goes in the storage area at the bow? 2) To surf do you only fill one side and 3) when you are finished how do you drain the sacks?

Hey Campbelljo or other BFN 454 owners-

I have a 92 BFN with the 454 and I was wondering a couple things....a. what octane gas do you run in your boat? Don't know if you've tried pulling a footer but my friends and I were experimenting and had problems with the power. I read something this weekend on the engine cover that stated to run at least 89 oct....where I've only been running 87 oct. I was thinking about trying some premium fuel before I go buying a new carb. to get some out of the hole power. I'm about to sac out my BFN since I just got it at the end of last year and I was thinking the same set up but I am very limited under the bow with all my stereo equip.....was wondering if you had any other weight on the front of your boat (i.e.- tower, amps, speakers, etc.)? Last question would be, what size and pitch prop are you running? Thanks

I used to use 70lb sandbags in the bow of my BFN cause they are fairly dense, and there is not a lot of room up there. You can sort of stack three of them against the center panel there. Also, my 92 had two coolers in the center under the spotter seat. Lead or POP bags would be better, but $ for $ the sandbags win. Not sure if you can get them down there or not, they are kind of a winter based product. I would guess your power problem is the prop and not the carb, I have to think you would know if the lack was from the carb.
Have fun, what an awesome boat !!!
