I am thinking of buying a 2003 super sport 210 Nautique and was wondering what the hull warranty period (years) is. I heard 5 years for the original owner only, is this true

RE: What is the hull warranty period for the Nautiques
I have never experienced a hull defect that needed repairing, but if I had one, I guess I would have needed the warranty.
I have so much confidence in these boats, I probably won't spend $500 to transfer.

I don't think spider cracks result from defective gelcoat... don't they come from a collision or inpact?

Gelcoat cracks are often caused by screws holes not being drilled properly. After the pilot hole for the screw is drilled into the fiberglass, the layer of gelcoat at the hole needs to be reamed out larger than the screw diameter. If that's not done, the screw will spread the gelcoat at the hole and the gelcoat will crack. Nothing structural, just cosmetic.

So, for $300, or $500, you get one year of hull warrenty. I think that if there was a defect in the hull, it would have shown up by now.
Just my opinion, I would not do it.
You would be much better off having a marine surveyer go over the boat before you bought it.
