When I saw this thread I just had to throw down for a Dixie horn, myself! I just installed mine too, and experienced similar to wakecrashin. The horns are incredibly loud, but they take up a fair amound of space so the only place I could get mine out of the way was up behind the "glovebox". Unfortunately they have to pretty much play through the hull in that area. Also as wakecrashin mentioned, the compressor is pretty noisy. I think I can fix that by putting some foam insulation around the compressor.
I think for a car installation where the compressor is under the hood and the horns don't have to play through a solid object the Dixie horn would work great, but it's not quite as ideally suited for a boat. :???:
