    Thinking of selling the boat

I am thinking of selling the boat this spring, but I am not sure of where to start on price. Here are the details:

1992 CB Ski. White hull, Teal main, and yellow accent. 500hr +/-

Recently had all interior recovered locally. Exact replacement material, but no correct craft logos. Stronger stitching in the corners that get abused...new foam in all the seats too.

New carpet on the floor of the boat.

New Dimension Tower Added with racks.

New Infinity speakers in the boat, stock clarion removable deck.

    New Optima Blue top battery

Transmission rebuilt due to leaky rear seal.

Top end of motor cleaned up and put back together (last owner lived on sandy lake).

    New fuel pump

    Protec Ignition

Trailer needs some touching up for minor rust and paint.

What price woudl you start out asking and ultimately sight unseen what would you think bottom dollar should be? I was thinking about starting at 15K.

Our lake is most likely going non-wake...so I am not sure what the future holds yet. Also, kind of interested in a bigger boat for other lakes anyway.

    Thanks!

RE: Thinking of selling the boat

Nobody likes when I answer these kinds of posts, so let me please be the first.

13-15k would be quite appropriate. Pictures would help here - but assuming it is as nice as you describe, I bet you could get 14k for it, maybe 15 even. I would consult the book value on it as well, as I have mentioned before (and for which I have been criticized for suggesting despite its factual ability to predict market tolerance on used items).

Are you thinking of getting into something else?

Thanks...you are confirming what I was thinking so that is good! I thought I would try to sweeten the deal by throwing in my airdock lift too. I am not sure what will happen with our private lake, though they continue to adhere to the 20 foot rule, so that is limiting. If they indeed are sucessful in outlawing wakeboats...then whats the point? The current move is to not approve any boat that comes with ballast tanks or wedge type devices.

I may...and it is a big may, look at an older 210 or 211. i don't really need/care for the huge boats. The closest lake allowing anything over 23' is either Cumberland or Norris. Both of those are nice places for sure, but not as convenient as the backyard.

I am currently hoping that the new VTX pins correct craft down to making something similar...a true 20' v-drive. I guess the short answer is time will tell as to what our next move is. Perhaps it's time for one of those ultra plush inboard pontoons. They put towers on those now too right?!?!? Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

RE: Thinking of selling the boat

Since youre asking, Ill share my opinion...

Ive kept a close eye on the 1990-1993 Ski Nautiques over the last few years. I think $15k is high. I hope you get it, as it means my boat is worth more- but I wouldnt pay that much. Even the ultra-clean boats of our vintage only seem to be commanding $12-14k tops.

This hull may be tough to sell as a wakeboard boat, as the 2001 hull throws a better wake and is less expensive. The tower may or may not increase the boats value.

Other possible detractors are the non-original interior (no logos), colors (no offense, teal/yellow just isnt a classic combo), the Protec ignition, and imperfect trailer.

I would say the value may be closer to $10-12k, sight unseen. If the general condition is very high, that number might increase.

I just sold my 92 Sport that was in excellent condition for 11k, probably could have gotten 12k if I waited a little longer so I think that 15 is also high.

I sold my similar 1995 for $16k, although the boat was almost in better than new condition. Your biggest issue might be the colors, they might limit your buying field. Based on your explanation I would guess $10-12 would be the ending price, $12,9 might be a good asking price if you wait until the weather starts to warm up.

your boat adheres to all of those rules. throw some lead in there and tell them it isnt weighted or get fatter friends.

RE: Thinking of selling the boat

I most assuredly will have to wait a month or two. I have a couple of payments before the boat is free and clear, but I realize it is not the best time to be selling either. I also realize this shoudl not be sold as a wake boat, there are way better alternatives. But, with three or four people in the boat or some weight it throws as nice a recreational wake as anyone really needs. The tower helps getting the boards and skis out of the limited space too. It is also way more practical compared to the ten foot pole I had in there. It ultimately makes a nice boat for someone who still likes to ski and it is easy to trailer. I think the market also depends. In my area this boat was running consistantly higher by about 2500 compared to down south where I bought it. They are less plentiful and have lower hours typically.

As some other thread stated, the wake boats are getting out of sight. SSS in michigan has a nice 210 in black/orange for $48k w/o a trailer!!! I think Jeff's boat is the oposite though...really loaded and nice for a **** of a good price.
