    RE: 4x4 van

I've never been much of a fan of the van... but I think a lifted 4x4 van doesn't look bad at all!!!

It definitely has my vote for practicality when it comes to hauling people and gear to the water though!

I guess it's not truely lifted... but just that it sits higher up with the bigger tires and 4x4 set up than the typical 2x4 van does.

The van is a Quigley and I've had no problems since I bought it in 2001.

There are several ways to go about getting a 4x4 van, however Quigley is the only way to purchase one with a factory warranty. I bought mine through a Ford dealership in Roseville, CA. It was just sitting on their lot. It had no side windows and no seats in the rear. I had to install everythiing aftermaket.

It now has two captain's chairs and a bech seat that folds into a bed. It seats seven very comfortably. I kept the floor vinyl so that I can remove all of the seats and load in dirt bikes.

You can order a Quigley van through some Ford dealerships, but not all. When I first set out to by my van, I got a bunch of puzzled looks from the salesmen when I said I wanted a "4x4" van. You can imagine my surprise when I actually found one sitting on a lot.

Sick ride bowvan. Is that the 7.3 Diesel?? I know sportsmobile does alot of interior conversions to vans and they offer the quigley 4x4 and can do those cool poptops on em too. I wanted one but opted for an F250 instead. Still kinda wish I had a 4x4 diesel van though with a poptop camper.

Just as good, very nice ride. The V10 is a great motor.

I'm jumping back some... I have heard nothing but great things about the Yukon XL with the upgraded tow package, although the weekpoints were price and gas consumption, the strong points seemed to be a huge seller. The upgrades if price is not an issues, are huge. In the past I have always used a Suburban with upgraded suspension and hitch, it was great. Tried an Excursion with turbo diesel and thought it was amazing. The TD was great on gas consumption(17-22mpg) compared to the v8's of the Suburban(8-12mpg) however the price of gas makes up for any difference. Long trips is the only place I saw a difference. I'm not sure about the latest autos though.

Just take into consideration how much you are going to tow and how important to you the ride/comfort level is durring tow. That is the best advice I could offer.

How are the full size Bronco's when towing? I read that they're rated at 7800lbs. Anyone have any experience when towing with them? I don't really have a tow vehicle right now. I usually use my friend's truck or borrow my Dad's. The early 90's Bronco's aren't too expensive (3-4K), so I could keep my car (350Z) and get that as my towing/beater vehicle.

                        LR Discovery:
Can pull a 07 210 through Blue Rdge parkway... it was on accident
Big enough back so my Great Dane can stand up
Small enough to drive around town and not have to worry about parking
                        Love it!

Sorry, I didn't read the entire post. Whatever you do, if you have a family, get a truck with a third row of seats (or 6+ passengers capacity). If you have 2+ children, then they can EACH bring a friend that way. So it's a lot more fun for them, and they'll want to come along for boating more often. I have a Toyota 4-Runner Limited with room for only 5 peeps. I love the truck, but boy do I regret not having that third row...

We tow our 206 with an 05 Sequioa. It has been great and is really stable when towing. We love the room and it came with an automatic rear load leveler so it rides at exactly the same height with or without the trailer hooked up. I hear the 08's will have the Tundra 5.7l with the six speed, and that would definately be a great tow vehicle.

Had a 92 some years ago, no issues with towing, look for a 351 though, the 302's are not quite enough for that vehicle. A stock setup will also tow much better then mine did with the mods, particularly the 36 MT's I had for a while.

i had 2005 toyota sequoia towing a 211 with a extra 500lbs in steel shot bags... the sequoia is a nice ride but terrible gas mileage (10 towing and 13 around town).

i have been towing with a friends 06 chevy duramax diesel and allison transmission and diesel is the way to go !!!

kinda wondering how the jeep cherokee is with the 6 cyl diesel ?
