Owner of a GS22 stopped by my dock and was asking about the "Sur f'n Ski" SV211 project and I gave him a quick tour. Re: logo I have got the question "did you put that on there?" a couple of times
Yes, it's a new /old model lol.
The GS22 owner had a couple of concerns - #1 the GS22 won't age well due to electronics & cost of replacing, since they don't fix the modules. I agree, I had a couple of failures in my SN200 - throttle and audio. And the feedback I'm getting is constant scans for codes and errors of the late model boats in club service. He was yearning for the days of "analog". #2 is weight and ballast. They have chucked the skimboards are now foiling so don't need a big wake to do that. #3 he likes to ski, and is using a buddy's 196 as the GS22 is not skiable, as I suspected.
I see a lot of 211's for sale out there, so getting a good one and doing a makeover would be pretty easy, plus $100K back in your pocket.
Now in my camp we are switching between the SV211 SnS and a GT40 TSC for skiing. My buddies are like "if you find a nice 196 we'll buy it". The SV211 is just a little too gnarly for them. However, I am going to swap props to the ski prop, last ditch. We had a great set today behind the 211 with light fuel load. I guess a 196 would be a no-brainer for skiing.
