Gone Baby Gone

Bittersweet day. I let the 200 Sport go to a good new home last Friday. Loved having her but the last 2 years we put less that 10 hours a year on the boat and that just wasn't enough for me to keep her any longer. New owner has a place on a lake and a family that will use this boat the way it should be used. Looks like I'll be working and riding on other boats going forward.

You're a boat guy so you're not going far. You said previously you were retiring soon...whatcha gonna do with all that time?

Probably work on other people's boats, the 70 Mach1 or the 87 C10 pickup I have eyes on. That and tell stories of the "good ole days" here....

I have 3 friends that I help out with on repairs/winterization and go out with on a somewhat regular basis so I won't be hurting for a ride or be off the water. It is true that I'm a boat guy, been doing some form of it since I was 8. It was just time for me to step back on owning that nice of a boat with the use I was able to get out of it. Still have our Waverunner and my wife still has the place on Lake Erie (I just work there) so we'll be out on the water doing something for the foreseeable future.

It was still hard watching it being towed away behind someone else's rig though.

Heard it many times - two best days for boat owners is the day you buy and the day you sell! I have lots of boat ownig friends and ski with a club so I have continued to be happy after selling years ago!

Thanks, I thought so and that was part of the reason I let it go. I have friends that have some incredible boats and cars and never use them, at least not the way I personally would. And that's okay if that's what they want to do with them and enjoy those things that way. It drove me nuts though seeing sit. I had a great time taking a bit of a rough boat and bringing it back to the condition it was in when I sold it. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the boat through the covid days, it brought us together through those crazy times. It was an absolute privilege to have had the boat through that period.

The new owner sold a Nautique to buy mine and understands what it is that he bought. It will be taken care of and used well with the new owners. You can't ask much more than that when you sell a cherished possession.

I would absolutely love that. Just have to get my wife to move. We'll have to see what's in the cards once I retire.
