2009 230 Stock Prop & Performance

I searched, but there is no definitive post. What is the stock prop for a 2009 230 with the Z409 engine?

I am in Florida, so no elevation worries. The boat runs to a red-line of about 5500rpm, 42mph, and stays there, so the prop installed seems correct. However, I had a strange issue pop up after having the throttle position sensor replaced at my local dealer. The boat seems to redline to the moon from lower rpm's and over-revs at the top end. It's almost like someone swapped props. Installed is a 1235, but I thought I had a 1273.

To complicate things, I just swapped the gauges after a gateway box failure at the same time the throttle position sensor went out so the gauges and position sensor were done at the same time and not independently/tested. I would not think that that would have any effect on the over-reving.

The ACME 1235 14.5 x 14.25p is what I would consider to be a surf prop. The 230 is the larger boat so my guess it's propped for moving mass, thus motor has to rev to generate HP.

I like the 645 on my 211 its 13.25 x16. More pitch, less revs. Smaller diameter is faster and less rooster tail. I made a custom prop at 13x17.5 for the flattest wake and best skiing.

For max surfing, to sit the transom deeper, push more water/wave and best for speed control I have a 1433 14x14.25p, which is ~ the same as the 1235 but it's horrible for skiing and cruising.

1235 SHOULD NOT be redlining your rig at all. It’s the standard moving all the wakeboat wake. It’s the correct wakesports prop for pushing weight.

it’s an upgrade to the original 1579 team prop. The 1235 was the go to

1579/1433/1235/1273 are all 14.25" pitch which, (if ex343/1:48 Vdrive) punts the revs into the upper band for sure. I'm not sure I'd call it a redline tho.
For ripping around at speed I feel it's too much commotion going on - both for engine revs and sh@$ behind the boat.

That's why I like the 645 13.25x 16 or my custom13x17 for skiing and cruising.

I wonder if running lightly loaded how an 845 13.5 x16 would do on the larger hulls?

Note: a larger diameter prop will produce a taller surf wave by pushing more water into the rooster. Less pitch, the transom sits deeper (less prop lift) making the wave steeper was well.

As much as I don't want to say it... my first thought was that somebody swapped props while it sat for 3 days waiting on service, but what I am hearing is that the 1235 should not cause the boat to overrev. I am going to check the engine RPM against the gauge for accuracy.

I wakeboard and rarely surf so I do not need to spin a surf wheel. So the original team stock is the 1579.. or could it have come with the 1235?
