There are many reasons for filipping a photo. Some times it is for asthetics. A reversed image may flow better with the lines of a publication, or you might need two products "facing each other" and only have a photo of each facing right. You then flip one image and they are in a face off stance.

Mirroring images is done all the time, but it was bone headed to not notice one that would be obvious that it was mirrored.

i understand that there are reasons for flipping a photo that encompass the points that you made. but it seems reasonable to assume that anyone in the business of building web sites and/or publishing brochures encounters this sort of problem often and would have common sense enough to realize that if the mirror either a) unbalances or b) completely reverses the image, then the product will not be appropriately represented...

It is quite surprising that multiple proof-readers did not catch the fopaux (sp). ER

Maybe the same company (or elementary school) that did the website did the catalog!
