Whats the advantage of having a trailer with the rollers instead of the slides.

RE: trailers
advantages: trailer sides on and off easier. this is important esp. if you're using a winch to get your boat on the trailer 100%. these are seen more commonly on bigger boats, such as I/Os in the states (i've noticed and i'm sure you have that all the folks from australia have rollers on their trailers).
disadvantages: (i think, dont quote me on this) roll too much so that you MUST hook up the bow eye when trailering around parking lot about to launch/haul... could leave marks on hull?
what do the people in australia think of them?I Nautique, therefore I am.

RE: trailers
For me a bunk trailer always felt more secure. Not sure why but it just doesn't move easily. Also, I have always been afraid of rollers putting stress cracks in the gel coat. If yo uthink of it you have all that weight on the same spot of the boat every time you trailer. Much more spread out on a bunk trailer. JMO2016 SAN 210

RE: trailers
I have rollers on the inside and skids on the outside. some of the ramps i frequent aren't angled right or are broken so at low tide you can't drop the trailer all the way in the water. Roller on the inside help me retrieve the boat without having to sink the towcar as well and most of the weight is in the rear that sits on the carpeted skids.

RE: trailers
think i prefer the wieght distribution the bunks provide over the rollers.have not seen to many ski boats with rollers. the only ones i have sen were aftermarket trailers. ALSO it seems the ramlin trailers tend to rust out pretty fast even when not in salt? how long you guys getting out of your ramlins? got 03 210 in right now. just chattin with the kid who owned it i asked him what he was getting for x-mas he pointed at the new trailer under his boat said "that" he said it rusted really bad up front, and they didnt feal safe towing it. and i have had others tell me they had to replace theirs after 3-4 yrs.plz give me so imput. thanx

RE: trailers
The rollers make it easier to load and unload the boat. However, they take more maintenience. If the axle corrodes the roller will bind and not rotate. This can cause damage to the gel coat. The bunks are more reliable as you just have to make sure the carpet in covering the bunk board. As was said earlier if you need to load your boat onto the trailer using the winch most of the time the rollers would be a better choice.Nautiqueless in San Diego

RE: trailers
I run a combination of rollers & bunks. The rear outside bunks (which are approx 2m long) provide good steady support when trailering and reduce roller slip dramatically when on a flat surface. The entire inner run are wobble rollers. There is quite big gap between the axle & inner sleeve of the roller so there is almost no chance of the roller binding & sticking (a regular spray of inox also helps).
When it comes to launching and retrieving it is so easy (especially when you only have 1 or 2 people). The car simply backs down the ramp to the desired depth & the boat is started and shifted into forwards gear, the driver of the boat then unlatches the strap and safety chain & slips the boat into neutral. Generally speaking the boat just glides into the water or at worst needs a little tap in reverse to start the momentum.
When you to different boat ramps all the time and the condition of the ramp is unknown the roller trailer really comes into its own...
As for increased pressure, there is only 3" space between each roller... on some boats I would expect gelcoat probs, but definately not with Nauts
