I was really on the fence about it as it's not a cheap option, but given the overall size of the boat and cost with or without it, said screw it and put it on there. It isn't "mandatory" but man does it make life easier, especially pulling into our slip that faces west when we generally have a south wind.

The answer would be exactly the same. I'm on my third "ordered to spec" Nautique and every time I'm given a "freeze date." It's way out before the boat goes into production. After that date, I cannot change ANYTHING. The OP is stuck with the boat as-is at this point. The only other option would be to work with his dealer to convert this order to a showroom boat and then let him order another one. He may lose some or all of his deposit if they can't sell it for the price he was quoted.

after waiting a full year since initial order and them holding Q4 2020 pricing for us, im not looking anywhere else. They have really gone to bat for us with issues we've had with tungsten grey being an issue, supply chain problems etc etc and got us some extras thrown in that we wanted at no charge. Dealer got it done for us. our rep was anticipating being told that it was past the freeze date but luckily because of the unique situation we've had and lack of production from Nautique they were willing and able to make it happen for us. the boat is being sprayed into the mold next week. I looked at it this way....IF the thruster was never an option to be put on this boat....you wouldn't miss it because you never had it. Driving and turning the new G23 hull is not that bad...yeah...it's big....but so is an older G25. I did not get it and put 10,000 into the gas tank.....LOL

I've never used the thruster while driving a G, and honestly I'm not sure I would use it that much... but have talked to many new and old drivers who swear by it. I was surprised to hear Murray say he doesn't use it much while docking as I'd think that would be the place to use it most. His video concentrated on while out on the water maneuvering to pickup riders. I would think the exact opposite... use it in tight places like docking, boat ramp, etc... not while in the middle of a lake or river turning around to pickup a rider.
Whether you end up using it much or not, these days I feel like it's a resale value item down the road. People are spending insane money for these boats now and most expect all the options possible for that price so you not having it could negatively influence your future selling price. Good on your dealer for making it happen!Jason

I use is most in tight spaces and docking/launching, but we also use it for picking up surfers as it keeps us inline with the fallen rider so other boat traffic would have to go around us. It really helps a ton!

resale was my largest concern, im glad they were able to make it happen. hats off to Nautique for letting me make the addition too. I truly didn't expect it. I haven't driven a newer G so I can't comment on handling but a few guys I've spoken to say they don't spin around the way the older g's do when ballasted. I can honestly say after having the thruster on our 2018 G23.. we pretty much cant do without it. I rarely use it when we're surfing unless the wind is really bad, but the 'pucker factor' it takes out of putting the boat back into the slip with a strong crosswind makes it definitely worth it. Just took delivery of a 2022 and it was our first option on the list.
I'm certainly you'll appreciate having it.

MY buddy got his thruster installed after the delivery. All integrated, no issues. Actually just got it back last week. He's very happy with it!
