I understand your frustration, but I do wonder what you would consider to be appropriate for them to offer you.

I can give you a little background on the purple metal flake gelcoat. I had that color one year. There has not been a non-metal flake purple gelcoat offered by Nautique in the recent past. Also, I have never had good luck matching the metal flake gelcoat colors with their non-metal flake counterparts anyway. The colors just don't match. You would not be happy with an attempted match.

Swim platforms cannot use metal flake gelcoat due to the tight angles in the fiberglass. The actual pieces of metal in the gelcoat will not conform to the tight corners (inner or outer), and the overall finish is not great in that sort of situation. That's why they don't offer metal flake colors on the platforms or on the interior decks.

If they don't have any of the purple vinyl left over from when they offered it years ago, I can understand them having a hard time getting it now. The price and the lead time on ANY vinyl not already ordered from the vinyl manufacturers is crazy right now. Throw in a weird color like purple, and a small batch, and I totally get that they would have trouble sourcing it in a timely manner.

I feel for you. You ordered a custom boat and paid lots of money. You should get what you wanted. Nautique probably shouldn't have offered Tungsten, but at the time I assume they didn't realize that they would be unable to get it at all in the near future. It seems like this one thing is derailing your whole order. Have you considered a replacement for the Tungsten alone, like Haze (which I know you said you don't like, but isn't really that different), or even black? I bet they'd be willing to do a black interior deck for you at this point, and that would look great in my opinion.

to be honest, I don’t expect anything for free. I just want the boat I ordered 10 months ago before tungsten was ever a problem for them. I went a whole season without a boat just to be left hanging at the finish line. It’s frustrating in all sorts of ways. We tossed the black interior gel coat thought at them but I was told by me dealer that it’s an absolute nightmare because it scratches pretty bad and it’s a pain in the *as to maintain, which I can see and they won’t warranty it at all if there’s a problem. It would be like owning a black car, you see every scratch so I have my hesitations there. I don’t want to be following my friends around with a sharpie if you know what I mean lol. It’s very interesting to me that you mention the interior black gel coat. What are your thoughts on the maintenance of it? That’s what I’m leaning towards in one way shape or form. If I don’t pull the trigger on the purple I’m considering pushing the order to All Black.

At the end of the day, once we get it delivered we’ll be happy either way but the process to get there has been tiresome. Also, my wife doesn’t like the haze so it’s a dead issue for me. I don’t fight the tide at home

I had a black interior deck on my 2014 G23, and I loved it. Of course I am the guy who has all black cars too. I love the look, but they are a little work to keep clean.

I like black gel because it shows you exactly what needs attention. Other colors hide imperfections but they are there. You just can't be afraid to whip out the buffers, which I do whenever I notice any marks at all. Now, if you are in a hot climate with hot sun, the black gel will burn you if you give it a chance. That's the big downside I see as far as the deck goes.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum. I’ve recently ordered an S21 with Tungsten grey main stripe, I’m told the rough build date is January - March 2022 but that Nautique are behind on orders. I’ve now seen on the forum lots of comments that there is an issue with availability of the tungsten grey gel coat. Does anyone know if this is still the case or if it has been resolved? Thanks

My order went in Jan 8 2021. I was told today that I may have a slot for end of Jan and could see it by March. We've got some unique obstacles with color choices and some hiccups with Nautique directly but were getting it ironed out and hope to see it by March/April. The dealer has really stepped up and went too bat for us the past few months and really driving this in the right direction. I'm guessing you ordered tungsten somewhere on the gel coat and that's been your hang up?

I had to do same thing, but we wanted a boat before summer was over and have even gotten more excited about the new build than the first one we had with tungsten.

don't have any pics, not delivered until next year. Ended up going blacked out with flake with tungsten vinyl, black accent.

On our Ski we went black flake main, red hull, and Tungsten seats, etc., and absolutely love the color combo.

Happy thanksgiving all. Got some good news last week. Ordered my G23 in early September. Got the call Tuesday that the delivery date to dealer is January 11th, with pickup the first week of February.

Hope others are starting to get delivery dates too!

Just got the news that we've been slotted for a build date of Jan 3, estimated completion of Feb 3. I'm pumped after a long 11 month wait. I'll post some pics when it gets here mid February.
