No one is upside down right now especially with a 10 year note. The typical Paragon owner probably got a six figure PPP loan that his business didn't even need and some went back and got a second one. I saw an obviously new wake boat owner last weekend they didnt fit your description at all...they looked like a bunch of boring middle age people without even one wakesurf board in the rack, I'm not sure what they were even doing on the lake. At least crank up your stereo and have a beer and pretend to have a good time.

With some candor, if you are just 'pulling chains' with 'stupid comments on the internet'...then I'm not sure this is the right board for you. I equate that with trolling, something I don't think we need here. What I greatly enjoy about this board is the welcoming community and our ability to have fun dialogs about our mutual love for Nautique boats - I think we all have a responsibility to keep it that way.

I think it’s important to first recognize that none of these watersports are inherently better or worse. I mostly surf because it’s more social and I have history of tearing tendons that makes the other options difficult. Skiers can say surfing is dumb but I don’t understand why people get up at 6:00am to go and make the same 20 slalom turns at 30mph that they have been making for the last 30 years. But hey, if that’s what’s you enjoy fill your boots. That being said surfers are just as entitled to calm water as anyone else. Can you surf in chop? I guess but it sucks just like it does for skiers and wakeboarders. We are on a small and very busy lake and try not surf before 9:00 am as a courtesy but after that it’s game on. We don’t power turn and keep our music down etc...but you really can’t take away people’s right to be a-holes. The danger here is where will this lead? If you ban surf waves, ballasted wakeboarders are not far behind and I’m sure there are environmentalists salivating at shutting down anything with an engine. I am not a lakefront property owner but this is also a double edged sword. You might not like getting the odd surf wave on your dock but what will happens to demand and value when they shut the lake down to all watersports?
I know I’m only adding another 2 cents to make this an even dollar but can we just agree that we all have the same right to responsibly and lawfully enjoy the water - no matter our preferred watersport?

I've wakeboarded. I've barefoot. I've surfed. But IMO, they still don't get me going like a good set of ripping turns on my ski. I get it, what blows my hair back may not be your thing..it's cool.
OK...whew...that was almost like a w*t dream - back to work.

I don't really understand how you can equalize all water sports when clearly surfing messes up the water (and maybe the shoreline) more then other sports. It took me a while to get my head around it. But like a lot of things, once you get it, it is really simple.
But the problem YOU have as a surfer is that the movement to ban and curtail is your so called wake up call that YOU are wrong.
It is like a lot of things you are right legally but not ethically. (As someone said in post 15).
And the fact that there is a movement to change the law - is again YOUR wake up call.

I can say that when we surf we stay 200 ft from shoreline and stay on a line and we do not power turn. Same when we wakeboard with ballast. We are respectful of the other boats as long as they are respectful of us. The issue we run into is the pro tube edition boats coming right in on our line while we are riding whether wakeboarding or surfing. We then wait to see if they go elsewhere or we do. For the most part it works out fine, but we ride on a large lake with many areas to ride. We do see ppl with brand new wake/ surf boats that do not have a clue, but for us we have been doing this for many years and respect "the code".

If there’s something that has been pulled behind a boat, I’ve probably ridden it. I primarily surf now because that’s just what most of my crew wants to do and I can do it on a boat big enough to actually bring friends along. I’d be just as happy wakeboarding or slalom skiing or air chairing or even kneeboarding if my knees can still handle it. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about watersports and the law it’s that we’re all in this together like it or not. If they enact those no surf zones and a disgruntled property owner sees you out there wakeboarding, tubing, or skiing you can bet they’re going to call and report you for surfing in the no surf zone. And even if they’re in the wrong the law is going to roll in and ask you to take it somewhere else.
That all being said I went and re-read the original article and looked up a map of the lake. For that lake, no surf zones aren’t a terrible idea. That lake is a series of very small fingers with barely any main body of water. There are lakes that have use-specific areas. Lake Arlington in DFW for example forbids watersports in the south end of the lake. This wouldn’t be much different.
