Do you think that just because someone owns a house on the Lake they're Rich? Some yes but NOT All and this statement is pretty arrogant in itself. I'm an Aviation mechanic and just moved to the lake at 53 years of age. My wife and I will be working another 20+ before the house is paid off. I guess if you own a 2017 GS 22 then the same thing could be said about you. That's a pretty expensive boat. You must be rich!!!!!!
Having been a SN owner for 20 years playing and since the introduction of the G and resurgance of Wakesurfing I and those I slalom ski with have seen this one coming for years. I've surfed with Nautiquehunter as we are both on the same lake but we have enough sense to stay in the Big waters of Lanier. As mentioned it's the few bad apples that only care about themselves and are going into the small Ski Coves and wrecking havoc.on the shore lines and docks. Skier Cove on our lake is where all the swervers go to run a course if it's up, the few footers that exist and where people go who want to teach their young kids how to ski. Rafting up of boats usually takes place on the weekends until the surfers show up. Sometimes 3-4 boats at a time and rock that cove that is about as long as a 1.5 slalom course. They don't care about anybody else but themselves and could care less if someone is just entering the slalom course. It's Surf's up! When approached and asked nicely if they can wait until the skier is done running the course the majority of the time you get. Screw you man it's a public Lake. We've seen several of the same boats surfing right next to the course and we we've move boats to protect it we get flipped off and expletives fly from the crew aboard. Most of the time this is what happens but not always. The bad apples of surfing are going to ruin it for everyone and what we locals are afraid of is the the ACOE will shut down Skier cove and make it a No Ski Zone. That we absolutely DO NOT WANT. Fortunately for me I live in the back of a cove where we don't have this issue but the entire side of open water of the marina where I live is a No Ski Zone. If I were a home owner on a bigger cove where skiing is allowed I too would be looking for means to prevent my property from being destroyed by the constant barrage of 4 foot waves pounding my dock and boats. The argument is " Well the 50 ft Regal makes bigger waves than my Wakesetter. Hey Moron..... The 50 ft Regal isn't making pass after pass back and forth for 3 hours. One and done till he comes back 8 hours from now. Wakesurfers in general had better head these warnings as we are starting to see more proposals about banning surfing which in turn is gonna affect ALL of us surfing or Not. Don't get me wrong, I've surfed and it's fun for about 20 mins and it's something that many folks can do as a family or get folks in and on the water, If it's your thing have at it and enjoy yourself, as for me I'd rather Grip it and Rip it but .... for the sake of us all..... STAY OUT OF THE SMALL COVES! My $.02
