Looking at purchasing a 2007 SANTE 220 - any general advice/comments?

Looking for any general/advice from owners.

We really want to buy a new boat but I can’t stomach dropping 100k (we would get a mastercraft nxt). Our favorite feature of the new boats is the convertible seat to face riders. That is what leads me to the 2007 ish 220. Also want to stay under 40k.

few thoughts from me

The interior layout seemed very bizarre at first but after really looking and thinking about it I actually think it’s cool now. I saw someone on here comment that everyone that doesn’t have a 220 hates the layout and everyone that has one loves it. I think the only thing that we probably wouldn’t ever like is how the engine protrudes into the seating space. Little odd. Also - love the idea of the trash can behind the rider. However, the breadbox on the other side may have to go. It looks like it could probably be unscrewed from the latch and the front attached to the physical hull. Can still get to the little cooler. Is that cooler about worthless FYI from a capacity standpoint?

1. Can two people fit on the jump seat in both the forward facing and rear facing orientation? Is it decently comfortable? Looks a little ‘upright’ when it is facing forward.

2. The boat has the ZR6. We live on a lake where we like to cruise around a bit. Cove to cove, restaurants, preferable places to surf, etc. where does this boat like to cruise RPM/MPH wise? What’s the fuel consumption look like?

3. We aren’t big wakeboarders but enjoy surfing. I’ve read where the wake can be temperamental on these boats - but once dialed in are awesome. Any recommendations on one of the suction cup hull deals?

4. This boat is already plumbed with a piggyback system. Two 700’s in the rear lockers and something up front I think. Owner says he thinks it’s 2800 total now. Good weight for surfing? ZR6 can pull that with loaded boat?

5. We will blink and have 6 adults and 2 small children on boat. What’s that look like on this boat? How many adults can you put on the boat and not be on top of each other?

Alex1118 I personally love the layout of the 220. The reversible seat is very functional in my opinion and while I haven’t dialed in the optimal wave yet, there are plenty of 220 owners on here that enjoy the wave.

Just purchased our 2006 SANTE 220 in October so haven’t had a lot of time to get acclimated yet, but look forward to getting in a lot of time in this Spring and Summer.

I agree the cost of new boats is why I decided on the 220, felt the bang for your buck was there. I just got done updating my interior and gave a fresh new look that’s inline with current production.

My wife is desperate for a white boat with tan interior but understands $130k plus isn’t happening. I refuse to buy a mastercraft nxt 22 which can be had for 100k with a trailer.

Lol, thanks Alex, finding an older boat that is mechanically taken good care of and rehabbing it like I did sounds like the way to go. I wasn’t about to drop 130K+ on a new 230 either. The guy I took it to in Orlando actually used to work for Nautique and sources the same vinyl that they use on their new boats. So this is the same Mojave Brown that Nautique uses. Total cost was $4500 plus tax. It would have been $3800 to just re-do with existing seat patterns, but I opted to pay extra to get the custom design by hand. Feel it was was well worth it to get that modern look.

That is dirt cheap for that interior, at least in these parts. I was quoted between $6K - $7K without tax for a 07 MasterCraft X2 and that was before the Covid. Got this price from 3 different top shops in the greater SE Michigan area. Heck they're charging $4500 for a close bow Ski Nautique up here. You'd probably have that in skins from C&S without the installation.

Could I have found someone a bit cheaper? Probably but I've also seen a bunch of butchered interior jobs and I would be destroyed if I ended up with one and had spent slightly less. Interiors are the hardest part of a flip boat up here. You may be able to find a real solid boat that just needs some love and moderate repairs but if the interior is gone and you have to replace a $4K or $5K interior it'll will brake the bank. I've walked away from several for this very reason.

I have heard different parts of the country have higher costs. Would guess this would have to do with how many shops there are in the vicinity that offer this service. Down in Florida, where boating is not just lakes but also oceans, we probably have more options to have upholstery done due to the amount of boaters down here.

Also sounds like a supply and demand issue. Might be worth checking out the surrounding cities around to shop around.

The shop I used, took a total of one month to complete the re-upholster job, and had the boat for less than one week of that time, a day to remove all and a few days to replace everything. I’ve gotten a few people asking about his quality. Went with Navy stitching. Here’s a couple close up pics...

You’ll find the right one. The same thing happened to me, before I bought mine. Buyer sold to someone else the day before I had arranged to come buy it from him. Worked out though, got a bigger and better 220 about a month later. Found it through Facebook marketplace. Had to drive from Central FL to Charlotte to get it but it all worked out.

Alex1118 Ill add a few things about the 220. Me and TexasTom have talked about all of this for the most part. I have the bread box in my boat and love it. Use it for storage, sit on it when we are just hanging out. Store extra ice in the cooler underneath. We do not wakeboard anymore. All we do is surf. If you have the extra weight, the wave is awesome. We normally go to the lake with a full boat. 9-12 people. The wake is insane with a full boat. Ill I have is stock ballast. I fill everything and out a wave shaper out and that's it. If you only have a few people on the boat and stock ballast it is tough to get the wave really going.

I have love the layout of the boat, you can't beat the trashcan and all of my friends with newer 210's love the 220. Crazy how much bigger it feels.

We just sold our 2006 220. Best boat we've had. Loved it and going to miss it.

[mention]TexasTom [/mention], did you replace the bulbs in your courtesy lights or update with new lighting housings altogether? Like the update LED look you have there. Couldn’t find this mentioned in the manual.
