2021 G23 and Kids Wakeboarding

Hey guys, we just started a YouTube channel that will be geared around kids and wakeboarding/watersports. This spring the plan is to have lots of trick tips and how tos. Over the winter we will be showing baby steps to getting up for the first time and off season things to work on. Check it out and spread the word please! Oh and we just got our hands on a 2021 G23 so lots of episodes will be done on that boat. We plan to show it off as well. If you have any ideas for us, please share and we will try to get it posted!

Good stuff, I watched it with my 10 and 8 year olds who started last year and they loved it.

One of them asked how good their parents must be, I said probably not as good as the kids

Very cool. My oldest just turned 9 and the younger one will be 7 soon. Both started skiing at 6. The older one started surfing this year. We got the younger up surfing but she's still figuring it out. We just got our Nautique in August, and I'd like them to learn to wakeboard, too. The 9 year old got up on a wake skate this summer, but we don't have a small enough wakeboard for him (and I'm not a wake boarder).

Thanks for watching and subscribing guys. Yeah Kane rides way more than dad does . So Kruce is the little brother who just turned 6 and he's riding at 55' at 18 mph. Kane is 9 riding at 67ft at 21.5 mph fully loaded ballast and then some. More episodes to come please subscribe and hit the bell. This might be a video for or feel free to answer here. I ski and surf but don't know much about boards/boarding. I'd like some advice on a board to get my kids started. I don't want to break the bank as they'll outgrow it quickly, add and here in MN, it'll get 3-4 months of use, but I also don't want junk. A used set-up would be ideal, but who knows what I'll be able to find. So, what should I be looking for to get two kids (55-70 lbs) started (size, etc)?

To get started 124 size or so. Honestly to get started most any brand will work. However, something newer than 2010 probably will have a bit better bindings (more comfortable, lighter, adjustable). Note, no one makes pro boards in small kids sizes so they are all basically beginner boards.

If you ask around locally you may be able to find something. We borrow out our small kids board all the time around here (nw MN).

When we started the shop for my kids this setup. It worked for my kid that started at 10 and is now 12. This year he outgrew the setup but it moved down to my 9 year old.

The Murray Jr and the Ronix Vision are hard to beat for that age and weight. I'd start there. Should be several floating around out there you could pick up at a good price. Don't expect anything fancy with the bindings in that size range and with some wear on them. Board size also depends on skill level and what tricks they are doing. Most kids can ride a little bigger board than the sizing calls for. It actually makes it easier and more stable, but if they are actually progressing and doing tricks, swing weight becomes an issue with the bigger boards. One more thing. We are a big advocate for riding cable boards at slow speeds behind anything that will pull them across the water. I credit a lot of the success Kane has had in wakeboarding to the hrs he rode on his cable board behind our seadoo....and he still does quite often. It helps truly learn edging, board control, and makes riding switch and learning 1 wake tricks a breeze.

Agreed on the jetski thing... if you have one, way easier to learn stuff, less intimidating, etc.

Ha ha,. Both of our kids learned to ski behind a 14' aluminum boat with a 15 hp Johnson outboard. They both still prefer that because there is no wake. Could probably get them up on a board, too, though they're getting more comfortable behind inboards, now. The older snowboards, so I think that'll help him.
