Still demo whatever you can and at least climb around in them. All the other brands and models exist for a reason, there is no perfect boat for everybody. Happy boat shopping. It’s a fun adventure! I used the long term relationship card with my local dealer and got a fantastic deal. The relationship matters to many dealers. I talked with mine for a 18 months before buying.

We have a 230 on Windermere lake but have a marina slip so storage is not a big deal as we can easily come in and restock and switch boards etc.... For day boating I think g23 or g21 is a better bet. 23 foot boats seem to be the sweet spot but In your case sounds like upgrading the truck and moving to g23 would not be cheap. Have been in many boats (pretty much all brands) but not the G21 specifically. Nautique definitely up there with quality. If you are looking at wizard lake marine they are pretty top notch and way better than the service you will get from any other dealer in western Canada. They will give the right price out of the gate and will not regret buying the nautique- no matter which model.

develop a relationship with a couple vacation rental owners on the lake so you can just call and go. Just sold my lake house after 15 years and are now are going to check out new places while spending less money and having less maintenance to deal with.

I'd disagree with the idea of buying lakefront property. I can afford it, but really enjoy just renting and not having to go on vacation and feel like I need to fix the toilet and change the light bulbs. Going to the same place on the same lake would get boring to me. I also like the flexibility of being able to rent a big hammer and invite friends/family then rent smaller/cheaper when it is just the immediate family. You are a physician and a dad so your time is valuable and limited. If you were retired I'd say get the lake house.

Definitely go demo them for yourself if you can. I would not trade our GS22 for a G21. There are pros and cos to both, so it depends what you prefer.

Same. I’ve read a handful of comments throwing shade at the GS22. No way I would switch cause I know the boat works best for me and what we do on the water.

Just as an FYI...my shade I threw at the GS22 was just a joke in relation to the OP's comment in the original post about getting feedback. Not "real" GS22 shade....LOL You know there's not a bad Nautique out there.

I understand we all have our reasons for loving our boat. I have a good laugh at some of the comments. To me its just people thinking their boat is the best because thats what they chose to buy. I am the same no doubt.

I recently had to decide between a GS22 and a G21 ... both great boats. Demo’d both. Did lots of research. I went with the G21 mainly because I do not live on the lake and go out for the day and need the extra storage space. I had to give up some things to get the G21 instead of the GS22 though. I’m happy with the choice and know that the GS22 just would not have worked for us. If I lived on the lake I likely would have gone with the GS22. See my separate thread if you’re interested more in my comparison of GS22 versus G21 decision making.

With you only surfing or wakeboarding, that takes away some of the advantages of the GS22, e.g. smaller wake for skiing.

I think both are easily towable with a 1/2 ton truck. I tow my G21 with a 2018 Tundra with no issues.

The G21 is 21’6” in length but has a larger beam and subfloor ballast. Tons more storage and is a “deeper” hull. By no means does the G21 feel smaller than the GS22 inside or out.

Good luck with your decision ... both great boats so as long as you establish “have to haves” versus “nice to haves” and let that guide your decision making then you can’t go wrong with either. Note: If GS22, I would ensure its a 2020 or newer in order to incorporate the changes that improved the surf wake.

I tow my G21 with a Toyota Sequoia without any problem, so your Tahoe should be fine for a 21. The double axle Boatmate trailers are only 1500 lbs.

Agree. That test is laughable. It requires the viewer to be utterly ignorant of the concept of Parallax.
Geeze, I wonder why the Axis/Malibu are always in the foreground and competitor in the background. The 23 LSV also is a much bigger boat than the G23
