Used Nautique purchase help ( 2012-2017 Sport Nautique 200V )

    My friendly Nautiquens ,
I have lived on a small private lake my entire life but I am new to Nautique boats. We have horrible HOA restrictions that limit our speed boats to 20.6 feet or less and 3450 lbs or less. I have found that the 2012-2017 Sport Nautique 200V fits the bill. I am not a skier or wakeboarder ( 2 bad knees from college football) but my family is all in on wakeboarding and slalom skiing. Knowing my lake’s restrictions is this the best hybrid boat? If so what are some alternative methods to finding these used boats beyond Inboard Boats.com? I assume this is not a super common model.

Are there any other boats 20.6 or under in length and less than 3450 lbs that I should consider? Tige RZR 2016 or older I believe fits the requirements but don’t know much about them.

From a Nautique perspective you'll have a tough time finding a better crossover. From a quality perspective that same statement would be accurate across the top manufactures as well. I also doubt you'll find a better handling boat after doing a head to head comparison and sea trial. If you plan to slalom ski I'd highly recommend having a jump seat. The jump seat makes the seating more comfortable and makes it easier to balance the weight in the boat for the more serious skiers.

My primary tools for boat search have been craigslist, onlyinboards, forums such as this and ski-it-again. All have their "trade offs" as to the effectiveness and usefulness.

I have an excellent 2016 Sport Nautique 200V that I was going to put up for sale this spring but it would appear life has caught up with us this season with all that's going on. May still if it looks like there's interest and we get back on track with our lives.....

Thanks, it has 400 something hours. It's in storage now so I won't know the exact number for sure until I get it out again. It's extremely clean and pretty well optioned as 200s go. In addition to the standard features (343 engine, ballast, Perfect Pass) it has the following.....
        • Heater/defroster
        • Bimini top
        • Jump seat
        • Rear removable sun pad filler cushion (hardly ever see these)
        • Bow filler cushion
        • JL Audio System Upgrade (10" sub, JL Audio EXT 880 tower speakers with JL Audio speaker covers, JL Audio 600/6 amp) with remote gain control for the tower speakers
        • 2 - full canvas covers (original stock cover and skiboatcovers.com Sunbrella waterline cover, picture below)
        • 2019 Phoenix trailer with spare, Fulton F2 Winch and Fulton F2 tongue jack

Love my 2016 sport 200. Use it primarily for slalom. Me personally at 34mph. Use to compete back in the day and not much difference between it and a ski Nautique as far as wake goes. Pull my parents from time to time as well at 28 mph and still a really good wake.

Wakesurf with gate attached to side, full ballast and one 400lb fat sac in rear port locker for regular surfers. Opposite for goofy foot. Makes a very rideable wake no matter the board or rider.

Pulled a few wakeboarders a couple times. Only good if u load the boat with people and then it’s still just ok. If you have a rookie boarder to average then it would be ok. Above that, the wake won’t be big enough.

All in all, love it and tens of thousands cheaper than the GS20 that replaced it.

Sport nautique is probably the best v drive out there for slalom but wouldn’t say it’s that great at surfing or wakeboarding. It is pretty much a 200 Hull is it not?

Probably not as nice of a finish but if you want a boat that will do it all I would take a hard look at the tige rzr just because it is a deeper boat with a lot more space and ballast capabilities. Pretty decent surf wave too

              Wake BC,
              Thank you for one reply.
I really like the look of the TIGE RZR, and more importantly it meets the length and weight requirement at our private lake. I really like the RZR at the link below.

The issue or concerns I have are based on fit/finish and mechanical reliability. What is your experience our input on Tiges reliability and fit/finish?

Yes it has the ski Nautique hull which is why it makes such a good slalom boat. The RZR yes would make a better surf and wakeboard wake. It’s not a bad boat at all. I just think the fit and finish on Nautique is the best. So i guess it depends on how you are primarily going to use the boat on what to get.

That boat looks really nice. I might be a little biased mostly because I’ve owned a few tiges over the years. But if you’re stuck at 20ft and don’t want to jump up in price range thats a great option. 2016 or newer is definitely the years you should be looking at. Tige has some issues with the vinyl up until 2015 and in 2016 taps 3 and the indmar raptor were introduced.

I’ve had a few problems with my tiges but nothing major at all. Just a few sensors and between dealer and factory support have nothing but great things to say.

Nice looking boat. It about the same price as I would expect to pay for a Sport 200 with similar options.

So Tige quality/reliability issues are not something I need to be concerned with on a 2016-2017 RZR? Besides normal boat ownership issues. I just don’t want to rule the Tige out if it is a quality option.

I have no experience with Tige, but we have a 200V and love it. It will do everything pretty well, we slalom on the course, wakeboard, and surf. Its a small boat, obviously, but with the right amount of weight the surf wave is great and the wakeboard wake is clean at slower speeds and still large enough at 22mph where I ride for inverts etc. I replaced the stock tanks in mine with 750 bags, which is a big improvement. You can also get away with a smaller motor due to the size. Be happy to answer any questions.
*Not a great pic, was a cold fall evening with just myself in the boat, wife surfing, no extra ballast.

                          JC,
this is music to my ears. I cannot get over how bulletproof everyone keeps saying the Nautique’s are. We are not pro boarders or skiers. We just want an extremely reliable boat that minimize our headaches normally associated with owning a boat. At this point I am going to move forward on some negotiations on Sport 200 models 2015 or newer. I believe the Sport 200 has some updates/changes in 2014. Is that correct? Anyone know what the changes were?

There were a couple I'm aware which pushed me to a 2016 .....
                            • The driver's seat was changed to the newer style "NASCAR" inspired seat which I thought was significant. More comfortable and allows you to more easily get in/out and sit sideways towards your passengers.
                            • In 2016 Nautique went from Polk Audio to JL Audio for their sound systems. IMO this was a significant upgrade especially on the tower speakers. Price out products from both and you'll get an idea the cost difference in component costs.
                            • I know the latch system for the tower changed to the lever system but not sure what year that was.
                            • The seating was change from a "L" layout to a "J" layout but that may have happened in 2015, again not sure on that.
