    Current SAN 2016 210 vs a new SAN GS20

Hi there! I’ve owned a 2016 SAN 210 and have low hours and had a great ownership experience thus far. Lots of great memories! I am starting to toy with the idea of a new or relatively new GS20 (2019-2020) Are there any other current 210 owners that made the switch? What were the main differences? Is the surf wake better? The main reasons I am considering are as follows:

    1) ability to use on smaller lakes with length restrictions.

    2) better storage of gear (in floor ballast v pro ballast etc)

    3) NCRS

    4) ability to store in garage

    5) better slalom wake (ski pylon)

    6) slightly better ballast 1850 v 1750

Any thoughts or feedback from the forum would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

Sounds like you have some good reasons to consider this upgrade.

I love the GS20. I don't own one right now, but I have spent some time in them, and they are great boats.

I appreciate the feedback. Was there anything you noticed that stood out? I see you may have a g23? I know that is quite a boat did it compare in any way? Just curious. Thanks!

I have an 08 210 with homebrew wakeshaper and probably around 2000lbs ballast in total. In terms of surf wave, the 210 is considerably better than the GS20 I was on for a weekend (full standard ballast, in saltwater). The GS is however a nicer place to be, has more storage etc. For me, it’s all about the wake (wakeboarding, then surfing) so I wouldn’t trade my 210 for a GS20, but others have different priorities and if you wanted more space, nicer place to lounge, then the GS is the better option.

I was not a fan of the slalom wake at all on the gs20. I far preferred my 210 for slalom. I did think the GS20 wave was better for surfing and at the time my 2012 210 had 750's plumbed in rear, bow sac, and wakeshaper on side of boat. This was the consensus from 4 of my friends that demo'd as well.

i had a gs20, now have a gs22. i would say if you ski at all, the gs. in my opinion, the 22 skis way better than the 20.
i cannot compare to the 210, but gs wave can be made to be very good.
so many people say the gs wave is not good, i just don't see it. i believe a lot of the naysayers are purely speculating.
i had pro ballast and upgraded to bigger bags from wakemakers. the wave is fantastic. probably not a g wave, but i can empty the ballast and run the course right after.

before we bought the 22, we considered the 230 (210 and 230 essentially identical). spent lots of time in it, demo'd it, skied it. it would have done everything except ski well. the gs just has a more updated modern feel to it, and actually had more room.

i would demo the boat before you purchase
                good luck

I never drove a GS so I believe everything you said, only find it strange that you find the storage smaller on the 230. I was in a gs22 last month and was really disappointed to the storage compared to the 230...
