    Boat Weight

Just curious why Nautique boats weigh more than most other wake boats? Do they use better material? Do they use more material? Do they use inefficient material? I would think the heavier the boat the better? For example a GS20 weighs more than a MasterCraft NXT22 and Moomba Mojo 23’. Those are just the 2 I researched. I think the GS20 weighs 4500 lbs vs 4400 pounds of the 23’ mojo and I think the NXT22 is 4300 pounds.

I've noticed the same as well and would think it's due to their hull and deck layup. Weight typically as very little to do with quality. It's more the design, construction and quality of the materials being used. You can get into a whole holy war on all these.....

All I can say about Nautique quality is my 08 210 with 1200 plus hours has never had so much as a stress crack. I read all the time about other brands with so many problems they have to replace the entire hull . It does worry me with all the electronics and high cost. I hope these floating spaceships don't loose the longevity they have now.

Correct craft has a long history of using the best materials. I have owned them since my first 1989 ski, in 89'. Their boats are generally thicker in the mold process and have a deep gelcoat, which I believe helps in keeping these boats looking great for a long time. I don't think they are as thick as they used to be, but still probably the class leader.
You may get some differing opinions.

I can attest to the thickness of the floor of my 03 SANTE... the layup is every bit of 1/4-3/8” thick and their layup is tough as nails! When I was cutting for larger battery boxes the only blades that held up were for my Ridgid Jobmax... jigsaw blade lost all their teeth within a few inches of cutting!

As far as comparing to Axis or Moomba you also have to think about fit and finish of materials. Insides of compartments finished with carpet, Seadek, etc compared to no finish materials will add weight. Overall they are better built boats which will weight just a bit more than the competition.

My buddy who owns a Malibu used to go up and bonk the side of my 2005 210, shake his head and say, “man, I can’t believe how much more solid your boat sounds compared to mine.” It was just a dead thud when you hit the side with your closed fist. Not as much any more on the new boat.

I'll never forget years ago, I helped push a buddies bayliner (I know) off the beach and the side below the rub rail was so thin it that it actually gave a little and relaxed... So thin
