    343 (210) to H6 (230)

Considering an upgrade from a 2015 210 to a 2019 230 with the H6. From what I've researched the H6 has some benefits: DI improving fuel consumption, a significantly easier winterization procedure, and a lot more power.

Does anyone have any experience with making this upgrade? Any downsides - design, maintenance, other? Is the H6 overkill for the 230?

i had a GS20 with the standard ZR4 400,400. I was at altitude last summer (6300 ft). The altitude killed the power of that motor. The boat struggled to maintain surf speeds with just factory ballast (non-pro) and 5-6 people on board. I worked with ACME and tried 3 different props. we got it to a point where it was better, but not great. I was super disappointed with the motor. Just to make sure there was no issues with it, we ran it a sea level and the performance was awesome. just what I expected

I sold that boat and ordered the new one with the H6. I have no regrets what so ever. the H6 is a beast. with pro ballast and 8-10 people on board, it has no problems with power, even with altitude. this is with the stock 1235 prop as well.

so, if you are at any altitude, I would seriously consider the H6. even if you weigh the boat down significantly, the H6 will be a better option.
I was debating between the 230 and the GS22. If I went 230, I would have ordered the H6 also

The H6 is a beast. I went from a 2005 210 with the PCM 330 to a 2019 GS20 with the H6. More than enough motor. Like my lake neighbor says..... “you can never have to much money or horsepower.” You will not be disappointed.
