We have a 2019 G23 and we love it. However, my son competes wake surfing and he tried the Centurion wave this year and likes it better. Is there any way that we can make the Nautique wave more like the Centurion wave with less lip and a softer transition to the flats?

My family train on a G23 and compete mostly on Centurion boats. There is a significant difference in how the waves are shaped. But I have found that if you weight the boat properly and run the proper settings you can achieve a rounder wave that makes surfing a Centurion an easy transition. Since your son does not prefer the lip I assume he is riding a skim board because every surfer looks for that lip to hit for high airs.
See the image for the weighting I would recommend. 500lbs minimum and 800 lbs is optimal if you run with a crew of less than 5.
Run the boat at 11.0 to 11.3 in water below 75 degrees, 11.3 to 11.5 in warmer water
..yes it matters alot.
NSS 0. NCRS 0
Front ballast 100% full
Port/Starboard ballast 70% full

The other advice I would recommend is that when he rides behind the Centurion to focus on hitting his tricks further back. It is not possible to surf right up to the platform on a Centurion like on a G. I have seen many G riders get sucked into the wake right behind the boat when competing on a Centurion. Good luck!
