The Ecoboost is a high tech turbo charged V6 with variable valve timing . There is a lot going in that little engine to get the HP . The V8 is a old school simple engine . I feel that you are working the V6 a lot harder to tow with it and the longevity of the engine will be shortened. Because its so high tech the cost of repair will be higher. Bottom line there is no replacement for cubic inch displacement.

There is more to it than HP and gear ratio. Brakes wheels tires and suspension are just as important . The tow ratings are set under perfect conditions no mountains , rain ,snow or wind to contend with . Towing at or close to max capacity is risky at best . As long as things go perfect there will be no problem . But when there is a emergency like stopping or swerving a light duty tow vehicle may not be able to save it .Originally posted by Nautiquehunter View Post

PS your Ram looks like its squatting in that picture . You may want to consider some suspension upgrades

I think part of it looking like its squatting is how its sitting on the hill for the pic, when on flat ground the truck sits almost perfectly level. When I attach the boat, only squats about 1.5" and I made sure the hitch I installed is at correct height to keep trailer level. However, I did not get the air suspension option on this truck and I will probably install some bags at some point since a bit stiffer is always better when towing something this big. Have also considered adding EOH brakes to my 2014 trailer. Brakes excellent in forward and trailer will stop my truck if I brake fairly hard, but would be nice to have brakes in reverse since my neighborhood boat launch has a fairly steep ramp and EOH adds better control in all situations.Originally posted by Nautiquehunter View Post
