    New boat, couple questions

    New boat, couple of questions:

1: what is the operating temp of the H6?

my thermostat was changed prior to taking delivery, per a Nautique bulletin, due to the motor not coming up to operating temp.
today, the first day on the water, the temp is only 131*. my gt-40 ran 160* and i’m pretty sure my ZR4 ran about the same.

2: how do you adjust (raise/lower) the oversized mirror?

I assume the “button” (with the allen screw) on the side is a release to allow the mirror to rotate. however, mine will not budge. i cannot push it in or anything.

    TIA

What is the water temp? I am having the same running temps. I am anywhere between 130-140 but my water temp is 42-45 degrees. I called my dealer and he said those temps are fine based on water temps. My boat is also a 2019 with the H6

As far as the mirror, there is a large button on the left and it pushed the whole mirror over and then you can rotate it.

Wow 131 water temp is low for an H6 . I have a Coastal Edition H6 which is a partially closed cooling system and mine runs between 165-169 degrees.

As far as the mirror spray some WD-40 and use a rubber hammer to tap the large button to the left and it should loosen so you can rotate

        water temps were 52-55*
I did see the temp up to 140* towards the end of the day.

I figured the mirror out with the help of another member, my "button" was extremely tight, almost like in a bind. I got it to free up and it works now. I think I need to lube it

When our water temp was about 48 degrees I would run in the low to mid 140 range. Now that the water is 62 degrees engine temps are in low 160s.

            2019 G23 H6D1 with about 100 hours.

kylant I will have my boat out next weekend and can see what temps we are running. I think the lake we are going to is mid 60s now. Dealer did the water testing yesterday but didn't recall what temps were running at but did say it wasn't out of ordinary.

on a side note, are you running the stock 1235 or did you change props? Dealer said the boat is a beast with the H6 @2500' but I am more interested in what it will do at 5000'. Our dock won't be set for a couple more weeks.

I was going to ask a similar question. What temps do people see on the XR7? I know it is a different type of system, but we are always right at 178-180.

it still has the 1235 on it. the boat has way more power and seemed to ok with this prop. I will have to do some more testing and see.
running the ballast empty with myself, my wife, 2 kids, and full fuel; the boat ran 37 mph at 5600 rprm
loaded with full ballast (including pro), the boat was much quicker to get up to and maintain surf speeds. however, the lake was pretty calm.
I imagine, the boat will eventually end up with something like a 1579.
again, I am at 6300 ft elevation

                    update:

boat temps still seem to be low, dealer is not concerned but will look at it at 1st service.

this H6 has way more power. Boat has no problem getting up to surf speed or plane with full ballast and stock prop.
still need to throw more scenarios at it.

One new thing I noticed: the pro ballast bags did not fill completely before the pumps shut off. I had to cycle the pumps again even though the dash said 100% full. Is this normal?

                    Thanks

                      update:

Had my 25 hour service done.
Mentioned the operating temp again. They replaced the thermostat again. Now the boat runs right at 160-165*. They said the 1st new thermostat was probably from the same bad batch as the original.

We have right at 20 hours now and I must be lucky with my Tstat, never been over 165*. We spent the last couple of days at the cabin (5000' eve) and the motor is awesome but I find myself wanting more holeshot for slalom. Going to talk to the dealer tomorrow and see what they recommend. Looking at the acme site and it looks like a 1615 might be my next step but wondering if bumping up to a 15" and lower pitch might be a good idea? Planning on calling them tomorrow as well. Something like the 2315 maybe?

Our xr7 runs the exact same range, 178-180. Water temp right now are around 68-71.

my boat does pretty good here at 6300, but a little more would be nice
I have heard good things about the 15x14 OJ
