    Comparison of 211 to 220

I have a 05 211 TE and would be interested to hear how the 220 compares from somebody that has spent some time in both. From specs its 16" longer, 3" wider, has 1" more freeboard, and 700 more lbs. Out of these the length looks like the most significant difference. I am surprised the draft is only 1" greater, as it looks like it sits higher when i have seen one in the water. The shapes look very similar with the 220 having a slightly higher back end from the side view. It looks like the 220 has a hydrogate from the back, but i dont see it mentioned on the features and specs.

RE: Comparison of 211 to 220

    Jonfo,

I have only ridden in the Yellow/Black 220 at the Nautique reunion. The boat just seemed really big and sluggish to me. I think the current line of PCM offerring fall short of providing adequate power for these bigger machines. Running 4000RPMs at 34mph seems to revvy for my tastes, I just do not find comfortable for cruising out to my boarding spot. The interior also seemed to have too many nooks and crannies or too many little gadgety nick nacks like built in trash bin and wet vest storage. Some might like it but I tend to like things clean and open with a nice seating layout. After seeing it I didn't feel like I missed out buying a 211 the year before it was available.

The new 220 is awesome wakeboard machine. I've owned several 210 TE and it wasn't hard to move into the 220. I've ridden several times behind the 211, it's ok for an all around boat but it isn't high end in any one event. With several people in the boat, the seating configuration and size is awesome in the 220, with a small crew, you can put the seat back. Acceleration is slower because of it's size and weight. The 220 comes with hydrogate. I know the die hard 210 guys will have something to say about the wake shape of the 210 vs 220. What I can tell you is, for a tournament wakeboarder, it's much easier to practice behind the 220 and ride on tour behind the X-Star, transitioning form the 210 to the X-Star is much more difficult because of the shape of the wakes.

        211 to 220

so you are saying the 210 is way more rampy than the 220? and the 220 is more like the x-star.

          RE: 211 to 220

The 220 has a longer ramp, just not as steep (peaky or vertical) at the top. I also wanted to add that we ride with at least 2K additional weight , several people and the factory ballast, 80 to 85 ft mainline and 24 to 25 mph. The X-star that we also ride behind is an 06 with 3k additional ballast, huge long ramps. The 210 has an area past the downslope and before the flats that's like hitting a wall. Both the X-Star and the 220, that area is much easier to land at especially when landing huge nuclear tantrums to blind, backside 5's and wirley 5's

              RE: 211 to 220

The 220 wake is not quite as big, steep, or narrow as the 210's, but is bigger, steeper, narrower than other wakes like an MC or 'BU. The 220 wake is also an awesome surf wake.

The 211 is more of an all around boat. The wake's not as good as a 210 or 220 for wakeboarding/surfing, but far more skiable.

I owned an '05 SV211 TE, sold it, and replaced it with a 220 TE. In my opinion, the 220 is much better than the 211. I am not an expert wakeboarder, but I have a family and the extra space, massive storage, and multiple seating arrangements make it well worth the extra money. I really like the storage over the engine, the spinner racks, and the trash can. The bimini over the tower is also much nicer and easier to put on.

As far as power is concerned, I ordered mine with the ZR6 and it definitely has lots of power and sounds better when accelerating. On my 211 w/the Excalibur 330, the speed would drop back after reaching around 12-14 mph when pulling up someone on the wakeboard and I would have to bury the throttle more to reach 20 mph, where on my 220 it pulls hard past 20 mph without issues.

It is a bit deeper inside the boat and my kids feel safer in it. The windshield is also taller and the frame isn't in my line of sight like on the 211. The hydrogate doesn't seem to make as dramatic of a change to the wake like the 211, however. It makes a much more rampy wake than the 211 and has a taller transom.

If you want to see pics of my boat, you can go the "Show Us Your Nautique" discussion in this forum and go to "My 220's finally here"

                I hope this was helpful.

i really like the 220 layout... it is very inovative. with that being said, i would consider a 226 if i were in the market for a bigger boat..

I have spent many hours in a 210, 211 and an X-Star and the 220 blows them all away in every way I can imagine. We have 55 hrs on our 220 and love every aspect about it, especially how much room there is to walk around and the amount of storage. Honestly we didn't buy our 220 for a hardcore wakeboard boat, we bought it for the amount of storage space it has, the incredible surf wake and mainly for how family friendly it is. I admit it took some getting use to the seating arrangement but no complaints now.
