Mid new-ish wakeboard/surf tower racks
With the release of the new vertical mounted super expensive board racks, I'm seeing more and more of the older nautique swivel racks coming up for sale. Curious for those who had the older (pre-vertical) wider black wrapped wakesurf racks what they thought. I personally have the original 2012 narrow wakeboard/skim style only racks, which I recently replaced the bungees and powder coated, but wonder if upgrading to the wider forks is worth it? I do have multiple wakesurf boards, but worry the racks would still damage them even though they would fit and that my wakeboards would just flip around in them. Anyone with experience, please share your thoughts, tia.

I had the wide pre vertical racks before I upgraded to the vertical racks . With two wide forks on each rack you could put any combo of surf boards or wakeboards with no problem.

No they did not flop around much. As you stated there are several of these racks on the market now because folks are converting to the vertical racks. I believe when I sold my wide tine racks minus the swivels, I sold them for $470.00 on Ebay. I didn't have much luck selling them on the PN site as I had hoped. With the flood to the market of these wide tine racks, I would think you could get a good deal on a set. Having both tines wide vs one wide and one narrow gives you so many more rack storage options especially when transporting 4 thick wakesurf boards, as you know most wakesurf boards will not fit in the narrow tine racksOriginally posted by nautiques4life View Post
And the wakeboards didn't flop around too much?Last edited by GMLIII; 01-25-2019, 02:29 PM.

No damage to wider/thicker wakesurf board while in racks. The dings my boards have encountered are from novice surfers pushing them into the swim platform or side of the boat when finishing a set or dropping them down too suddenly on my concrete patio when they bring the boards up to my house from the lake. Since then I have placed a large 3 feet wide x 12 feet long rubber mat on my patio in order to prevent board dings. I still have to be more vigilent in policing the novice surfers not to push the boards towards the platform or boat. These wider/thicker surf style boards are definately more fragile than the skim style boards no doubt.
