My Pebble watch has never worked properly. My dealer even took it out at their local lake testing everything after a software update, and they could not get it to work. Then again, my blue Surf Select remote has only worked a few times, as well.
The 2016 is problematic. It was the first year of Surf Select and the 1.0 version of the app is rough. The only solution right now for 2016s is to replace the Surf Select 1.0 module in the boat with a 2.0 module. It's a simple plug replacement, no firmware updates needed. With this, you can run the newer Surf Select app on the Pebble.

I was referring to the fact that Pebble is now out of business and that the surf select only works with certain previous software versions. So there is this gymnastics of finding an out of production watch, downloading an older version of the software and then using it. Please clarify, is that only true on 2016? I thought it was true of 17 also.

See Charles comment above on the 2016.. 2017 and 2018 year models work fine with the Pebble , in 2019 year model, it depends if the boat has the Pebble module or the Garmin module. Base on Bevonstein comment, it appears any 2019 with a Dec 2018 build date or later will more than likely have the Garmin module. No problem getting new Pebble watches on Ebay. I have 3 of them which I use currently. I use the Pebble on my G23 2017 all the time.
GoPro , all I have heard on this forum is negitive and the majoritiy of folks can not get theirs to work and interface with the LINC system.

The problem is only on the Surf Select 1.0 module which was shipped from the factory on 2016s. All 2017s, 2018s, and a few 2016s which had dealer-installed Surf Select 2.0 modules are fine.
