Wave Size and Water Depth

My son is studying the effect of water depth on the wave size for wake surfing. I will not bore you with the physics because a picture (or 4) is worth a thousand words:

You are a brave man to ballast up and drop that rear end in 3 feet of water.

Are you using a wakesurf shaper? That boat looks pretty level.

No wake shaper... just stock ballast tanks...

Taking this further, I've found the push on my lake decreases dramatically below 20ft of depth, and everyone can ride for days in 40ft of depth. I'd imagine the point at which the quality levels off at its peak is somewhere between those depths. Best riding I've had was in Cumberland with 100ft+ of depth, but also the boat is filled beyond the max with people so it distorts it a bit.

Cumberland = 100ft for miles. I need to go back there again. I need deeper lakes by me.....

Our lake is max 20’ unfortunately. I find less than 13’ the wave sucks. At around 8’ no push. Not much difference between 13’ and 20’. Would love to try >20’.
