2019 g23

I've narrowed my choices for ordering a new boat between the G 23 the X Star and the new X 24. The Nautique is definitely my favorite but the concerns I have are the shafts breaking off and the concern that next year the G 23 will have a makeover. What are peoples thoughts?

I have not heard that 2020 will be the year for a new hull. It may be, but I haven't heard that.

The shaft issue seems to still be there. Not many 2018 boats have had the issue, but it is still early for those boats. I can say that I have owned a '13, '14, '15, '16, '17 and '18 G23, and I have never broken a shaft. My boats usually have just over 100 hours on them when they go to the next owner.

A guy with a 2018 shaft failure just posted on the 11 page shaft failure thread. He only had his boat a week or two.

It clearly is sensational when it happens, but plenty of us have never had that happen. I had 110 hours on my 2015 and 330 hours on my 2016 without a shaft failure.

My neighbor has a 2013 G23 with over 750 hours on it and has never had a shaft failure.

‘13s had the 1.5:1 and small prop. I don’t think they really had any issues. It’s the boats with a 2:1 and 17” props.

There used to be yearly Q&As with CEO Bill Yeargin on substantive topics of interest to Nautique owners. Seems like that’s no longer.

the last one with Meloon’s son wasn’t of much value.

talked to my Nautique dealer in WA and they have only seen this on 13,14,15, 16 - nothing on newer boats.

It has happened to two boats pacific has sold. One with 88 hours that broke about 3 weeks ago and another sold two weeks ago and the shaft broke this weekend.

There are many posts on PN with shafts breaking on 2017 and 2018 G’s as well

My neighbor’s 2018 G23 had 3 shaft failures during the short boating season last year. He now has a 2019 and says it has a redesigned shaft.

Wow then how do we not have all the 19 specs and pics yet?

Don’t know, but he’s got a motorized and taller tower etc. He’s been a loyal Nautique guy for years and to have 3 prop shaft failures in one summer on a $loaded$ G23, I think Nautique went out of their way to make him happy and pitched him one their early factory 2019 builds as a peace offering.
