I agree with above...supply and demand determine price, and I don't blame them for pricing that way.

...what bugs me is when people say they don't depreciate...These boats - even when someone is getting 20% off to start with - are depreciating up to $10k / PER YEAR. And I am guessing the depreciation figure will rise as the demand for new boats is still probably higher then what people are willing to pay on the used market...

It is true that the prices for these boats are very high, but with 30% overall growth over the last year for Correct Craft's brands (Nautique's numbers are not specifically stated, but have certainly grown above market averages), it is hard to really fault them for keeping prices high. If they are selling more and more boats even with these prices, would it not be a bad business decision to have prices any lower? The factory is already building at capacity. Lowering prices would simply lead to longer backlogs due to even higher sales.

LOL, my parents said the same thing when they bought us our first MC in the early 80's!

Yes they are very concerning to me. MSRP on some boats with options already begins with a 2. It's hard for me to believe that I own the smallest boat Nautique makes and just by adding a few options and a trailer its price started with a 1!

When did the 450 become the "base engine"?

No denying that the prices are very close, if you were to option the G with all of the goodies that come standard on the XStar.

For how I personally would option a G vs XStar, I think the difference is more like $13,500 more for the XStar (still not that much when you're talking $170k+). MSRP on the XStar for me is $184880. The G that I would get is $171,294. That puts them at nearly identical builds, except the G doesn't have the fancy stereo, no bow arm rests, and no pocket door...none of which you can remove from the XStar (from what i see on the builder at least) - if you could I think the price would be within $2-$3k of each other.

Would this keep me from buying an XStar? Not at all - If the wake on this new beast is that of the G, and then some.

Power tower and cool feel vinyl would be nice addition to the Nautique line-up of options

Put well made. My only addition is that you cannot compare carpet and the seadeck stock on a G. You have to add the decadence to make them equal.

What options can you get on the X-Star that there is not suitable equal on a G? Stern Thruster = Dock Star. Surf Select available on G but not on X-Star.
More flake options (up to 4 different panel combos), Power tower, additional racks, rear docking lights, clear bra on the back of the boat, speaker light rings, cool feel vinyl, flip up sunpad lounge. Might be a couple others...... but that's what I got off the top of my head.

i definitely agree that deckadance should be selected for a fair comparison. That puts the Star a few dollars more, all the way up through. But still neck and neck on these two boats.

ok, so we want to match up standard features? Let's chase that a little.....

XStar comes with the premium audio as standard (dash speakers, extra amp, extra sub, etc), integrated wind dam door, armrests, go pro mounts..... but doesn't have gen2 standard.

so let's say we want the boats equal out of the gate. 6.2 liter engines, surf system, and the same interior features, and at least throw a Bimini on it, right out of the box. At this point, the G23 comes in at 170,844, and the XStar is 169,910.

Now let's throw the upgraded tower speakers on..... this brings the Star to 176,630.00 and the G to 176284.00

And now, maybe you wanna add some style, so you throw on the upgraded windshield and tower accents. This brings the Star to 177540.00 and the G to 179949.00

And then, to be a little more fair, we will upgrade the flooring in the XStar to Deckadance, instead of carpet. That brings the Star up to 178,850.00

nonetheless, you can put some stuff on, and take some stuff off...... they are gonna run extremely close on like-optioned examples. Freakishly close. These boats are definitely priced to compete with each other. If you start adding other things like the heater, heated seats, some flake, filler cushions, etc., they still come out with 1-2% of each other.

The Star can get more expensive than the G...... but only if you start adding features that you can't get on a G.
