That's exactly right. Even two identical boats will often need to be different because one person's "perfect setup" is not everyone's. There are so many threads here and on FB with "what are your settings?" It just doesn't work that way. Weighting, current, water depth, fuel level, # of people on the boat, where they're sitting... it ALL makes a difference.

I bumped it to 5 once with the Pebble just to see what it felt like. There was so much push that I was just standing on the brake the whole time. I stay at 0 or 1 on the NSS.Originally posted by Kenv View Post
Asking this question....Do ANY of you ever surf with NSS set on 5 ??? I'm on zero most of time and if I bump to 2....the wave starts to lose shape immediately. Just can't see how anyone would recommend NSS at 5. Just curious if it works for anyone else. Thanks

I suggested NSS of 5 only because I heard the GS boats don’t put quite as much of a wave as the G boats (at least the 22 didn’t on the test drive I did). Therefore maybe 5 is a more useable setting on the GS boats? Can’t hurt to see a pic of a GS24 at 5/5, be it good, bad or otherwise...Originally posted by Kenv View Post

Charles and Jean , I assume when both of you are referring to 5 on the NSS you are stating the NSS is fully deployed? If that is correct, it would be 0 and not 5. On my G, if I have NSS at 5 ; the device is only barely deployed. 90% of the time I have my NSS at 0 which equtes to full deployment.

OK, this is yet another can of worms that keeps coming up. Here's how it works:Originally posted by GMLIII View PostCharles and Jean , I assume when both of you are referring to 5 on the NSS you are stating the NSS is fully deployed? NSS : 0 - The plate is FULLY deployed generating the most "crab." This creates the longest surf wake.
NSS: 5 - The plate is barely deployed crabbing the boat much less, but this also generates the steepest surf wake.
Depending on weighting, speed and other factors, going to 5 may produce a wake that's too "dirty" to surf nicely. It just depends. The day I tried 5 on my 230, we had a LOT of people on the boat. The wake was clean enough, but it was so steep I had to stand on the back of the board the whole time.

Yep, 5 is steep but can be washed out. 0 is more mellow. I confirmed that last weekend on my own boat and it was noticeably steeper with the NSS at 5 but was also more washed out. Would be good to see a GS22 or 24 wave at 5/5. When I tested the GS22 we never bothered trying it at 5 because they told me the “best” surf wave was at 0. I now know that by “best” they meant the cleanest and most surfable as opposed to steepest and biggest.

There you go. And where we ride we have to deal with current sometimes. The wave will be very different going against the current rather than with it. Going down current, I'll usually bump the boat speed a bit and maybe even go to NSS 1. So many variables....Originally posted by thejean View Postbecause they told me the “best” surf wave was at 0. Depends on alot of things like extra ballast etc. I usually run mine at 1-2 but I have a ton of extra weight in my boat.Originally posted by Kenv View Post

Yep me too. I’m running 750 lbs of shot bags and I have moved my NSS from zero to one becauseOriginally posted by nohlan_4 View Post
