Came across a 2005 Air Nautique 216 SE for sale with only 200 Hours. Could anyone direct me to a forum link where I can learn more about this year and model and anything I need to take into consideration when I go look at it? What does the 216 represent? Will mainly be used for skiing and some Wakeboarding. Any known issues/concerns with this boat? Says it has a GM 330

I have an 05 206, pretty much the same boat just 12" shorter. The SE designates "Signature Edition" so it will have basic gauges and a keyed ignition, it would be the entry trim level so price should be lower. 200 hrs is very low, average on an 05' should be about 550hrs after 11 seasons. The 330hp Excalibur is a very good motor, should allow you to do everything from Barefoot to Wakeboard NP. The only issues I have had with that motor is it tends to use dist caps, I replace it about every 3 years, it's non-marine so the standard GM cap from NAPA will be fine. Also replaced the Low Pressure Fuel pump, that seems to be relatively common in the Fords and Chevy's with a life span around 7 seasons or so.
No known issues I am aware of other then I feel the Vinyl has not worn as well as any other boat I have owned. Mine is well cared for and it started having seam issues earlier then I would have expected. Overall otherwise my 206 has been a great boat since new. The slalom wake on the 216 is going to be a little big, not ridiculous but if you like to slalom you may want to take a test ski if possible to get a feel for it yourself. There may be an 05' brochure on this site, if not there is definitely one on www.correctcraftfan.com in the reference section. Good Luck!

Quinner, thanks, appreciate the detailed info. Couple of questions What is the difference of the 216 vs the 206 that the wake is bigger? Also, they are asking 29K. Does that seem reasonable? Tried checking Nada Blue Book but that site is difficult as I do not know all the options on the boat yet. Heading up tomorrow to go check it out. Thanks! The 206 is a foot shorter then the 216 and I would imagine lighter as well, there is a noticeable difference in tracking and slalom wake, not night/day, but the 206 is a better slalom wake.
Price seems high for a SE, what options does it have? Trailer? Condition?

Tandem Trailer. Not sure of all the Options yet. will see it tomorrow. What Options specifically should I be looking for on the SE package that it may/may not have? ThanksOriginally posted by Quinner View PostThe 206 is a foot shorter then the 216 and I would imagine lighter as well, there is a noticeable difference in tracking and slalom wake, not night/day, but the 206 is a better slalom wake.

Here is a link to the 2005 Nautique brochure. It has a chart at the end to differentiate the difference in the SE, limited and Team edition boat trims. it would tell you what was an option to see if the owner added things above the standard package.

You should NEVER use a distributor cap that isn't Coast Guard/Marine Certified. The whole reason of that is because it has spark arresting protection. There are seals on the cap to prevent fuel fumes from getting inside and causing a big boom!!!!Originally posted by Quinner View PostI have an 05 206, pretty much the same boat just 12" shorter. went to see the 2005 on Saturday but looked like the upholstery was sun damaged. Lot of fine cracks in the white interior and looked like it was smudged and needed to be clean owner said that was the color, an off white so gonna pass on that boat. Also checked out a 2002 Sport Nautique with flight tower, new stereo, flight tower speakers, clean interior. No ballast, GT 40 310 HP, keyless. All around clean boat. 23k seems reasonable. Thoughts on this as a good ski boat for Tahoe? Enough power? The 2005 216 had a 330hp Excalibur engine.

Don't let the Vinyl scare you away. Its a GREAT bargaining point for you. I just bought a 2007 SANTE last fall that needed 5 new pieces of vinyl. I got them down about 1,100 dollars because of that. Ordered the 5 new pieces of vinyl through Nautique Parts, 3 of which were the back deck vinyl, for less than $300.00.Originally posted by RichB View Postwent to see the 2005 on Saturday but looked like the upholstery was sun damaged. You could easily replace that vinyl in a couple years. As long as the rest of the boat is in good working order.
If there is a "pink" hue to the vinyl that's a common problem on most any boat now days since they've taken the Arsenic out of the material. That pink hue is a mold that the Arsenic used to hide. Now that the EPA and Federal Government has stopped the use of it, the pink will show and give an "off color" or "Pink" appearance.
A great cleaner for the seats are Attwood Mildew Stain Remover and Star brite Mildew Stain Remover. Attwood can be found at Walmart, on sale a lot of times for about $6-$9.Last edited by vvfdfirefighter; 04-10-2016, 10:20 PM.2007 SANTE 220 - ZR 6 Engine (Bought 2015)

True with some older motor caps for sure, spark arrestor screen being one example.Originally posted by vvfdfirefighter View Post

Do tell what the GM cap on the Excal uses for spark suppression/flame arresting or how it is Marine specific. I and my GM mechanic looked very closely at the factory original cap and did a side by side comparison with a genuine GM cap and we could not find anything?? Thanks!!

OEM or Christine's skins for the 216 is going to be in the $3k+ range plus the cost of install.Originally posted by RichB View Postwent to see the 2005 on Saturday but looked like the upholstery was sun damaged. The Sport of that era is a really great "all around" boat, the GT-40 has enough power pull barefooter(s) or just about anything you will want it to do. It will do decent in big open choppy water bow high and slower speeds true to just about any straight inboard 20' long it is much more comfortable in smoother water. The slalom wake on the sport will be slightly better then the 216 IMO. One known issue on the 2002's is the gauges, they were junk. When replaced the original hours would be lost. The only real way to determine hours is service records if the boat was always dealer serviced or possibly the perfect pass if it was factory original and never replaced.
