    Linc learning curve HELP!

I've been a thick goggle wearing Nautique owner on this forum for over ten years now. I just bought my 3rd Nautique. A pretty well equipped, holdover 2015 230 which should arrive in a week. My last boat was a 2005 SAN 210. After googling the owner's manual for the 230, I've become extremely intimidated by the complexity of the linc system. On the surface, it seems way tougher than what I've been accustomed to relative to my 2005. How long does it take to learn it? It seems like there is way more stuff on it than I will ever need to mess with. With my 2005, it was simple: fill up ballast, fill up sacks, set the paddle wheel perfect pass and go. Now it seems like I gotta go through all kinds of stuff just to do anything. I'm an impatient guy that likes to keep it simple so did I buy the wrong boat? Also, one of my bigger fears is having to teach friends how to operate it when I'm the one riding/surfing. Am I screwed?

I also went from an '05 210 to a LINC 2.0 in my 2012 230. To be fair I have had some issues; but I love the boat and think you will too. Especially since you wrote surfing. Storage and surfing will probably be enough for you to not miss that amazing 210. There is a learning curve on the LINC and everyone is different... Good news is you really can't break it so you might as well push buttons and learn your way around. I'm 35, good with computers, had it dialed in a day... Dad at 70 took a summer, but I think part of that is just him having a hard time seeing it, especially on bright sunny days. Admittedly some things were easier better on my '05, but if you set up some profiles (or edit/rename the ones it comes with) ie "your name" wakeboard, or "your name" wakesurf. It will set the cruise control and all ballast settings with less effort, do that before you hop in and your crew will be able to drive just as easily as on the 210. Congrats on the new boat.

LINC new to me for 2015 on my G21 also. But nautiques4life is correct. Couple of times out and you will be surprised how easy it becomes. I don't even set profiles and find it real easy to get where you want. I've got my 14 year old daughter driving when there is no one else with boat experience and it's pretty easy with the cruise. I set it all real quick and she just goes. Both surf and wakeboarding. My dad is 77 and he pulls me once it's set also. I fine tune it for the surfers as we are surfing but you will find you pretty much get that one setting of speed, NCRS, NSS and you are good for everyone surfing that day and even the next time. Also, I had a service tech from the dealer go through it real quick and he was pretty good at explaining some of the features. See if someone there can show you some quick tips when you pick up the boat. Seeing it in action even with the boat on the trailer helps more then reading sometimes. You will love it so much more then your 210 once you get some time on it. Enjoy.

Have a look at this. Try to get familiar with it before the boat arrives. That way it will be easier to jump in and go.

^^^ That's what I was looking at. It just seems like a lot of layers you have to go through to do basic things.

Okay, thanks for the encouragement. It doesn't take much technology to intimidate me and I loathe having to thumb through manuals etc. to understand things. Can't wait to break this thing in as weather permits. So anxious. I've read over 90 pages of the "General Nautique Discussion" just to pass time, occupy my mind and learn all I can about the 230 while impatiently waiting for the new boat to make the trip accross most of the country. I shipped my 2005 to the same dealer as a trade in last week. The shipper showed up at my house with bald tires on his 2006 gas truck with 180,000+ miles on it. Temps were sub freezing most of the way there for him. Think I was nervous?

The hardest this for me was to keep telling myself not to touch the screen. The buttons are on the side and I kept touching the screen

We just got our 230 this summer as well. You will love it! Make sure you add 750s to the lockers if you are going to surf. You are going to love the space compared to your previous boat too! We went from a 216V and when I stepped into the 230, I was like @#$%^ this thing is huge!!!!
