It is interesting how some companies are building more and more expensive boats and you have Tige, keeping the same hull, but removing some options and tech to compete with Supreme, Moomba and the like. This is looking like the beginning of a large divide...wonder if the market for middle of the road prices boats is minimal, considering entry level boats are still $60-70K. I like the move that Tige is making by not designing a new hull for the entry priced boats, just removing some of the expense to get a boat into the hands of more buyers, while still offering the same "performance".Originally posted by swatguy View PostHoly $&&&&$ 216,000

when boats first hit 100k I thought we were done. Now they're at 200k. Tige's new R22 and Axis are more appealing everyday.

One of my buddies just bought a new Tige R21. The stripped down version of the Z1. Beautiful boat and has a lot of ballast stock, surf system, wetsounds system and all the electronic essentials you need and was out the door for mid 70's. Seems like a great deal with these mid to upper $100K price tag boats coming out.Originally posted by Dandy21It is interesting how some companies are building more and more expensive boats and you have Tige, keeping the same hull, but removing some options and tech to compete with Supreme, Moomba and the like. Malibu has both Axis and their 'ride' series, MC has the NEXT series, and Supra has Moomba. Nautique is the only top tier boat maker that now does not claim to have some sort of 'budget' boat.

Malibu will sell plenty of them. There are areas where the Nautique dealership is not so strong, or non-existent. There are also Malibu Fanboys who will own nothing else, no matter the price. It also may be a selling point for other boats. Someone wanders into the shop looking at the M235, and after giving them sticker shock, the dealer then moves to the 23LSV, and says, 'but for a lot less, you can get this, which is almost as good'.

The price argument was exactly what everyone said about the G23 when it came out. Now look where we are at.

Where would you rank Supreme, which is now under the Correct Craft umbrella along with Centurion?Originally posted by Tallredrider View Post

Good point. It seems that at this point, they have not done any actual integrating. I don't see Nautiques showing up at any established Centurion dealers or the same with Supreme. I asked my local dealer how it was going to work out with separate Nautique and Centurion dealers in my area and he said that they planned on running the companies separately. But it wouldn't surprise me if they all eventually get thrown together into the mix. And then you combine some features to get a 'Centique' boat.

The point was responding to the previous poster who thought Tige was smart, and I was saying everyone else is trying to be smart too. I forgot that Nautique is trying to be smart also . .

It is interesting that my local Centurion dealer did drop them just barely. But in talking to him, it had nothing to do with the local Nautique dealer. But you never knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I agree with this, and I don't know about the other brands and the hull relationship to their more pricey big brother. With the Tige nothing that effects ride ability is changed at all between the more pricey Z series, just less options and color selections. That's where I think they nailed it. Not Tige specific, just the idea of the identical running surface just stripped down and the same surf system.Originally posted by Tallredrider
