I know your asking why would i, but....i have friends that will want to try... curious if anyone has played with ballast loading in the front to flatten the wake? Or some other set-up??

This is 33 mph, hydro gate forward. 4 people in the boat. Line shortened by 1 segment. Bow ballast may help, that or just have your spotter sit up there.

Wouldnt think bow ballast would make the wake smaller. Generally lengthens the wake. Video was good. Would like to see it on a slalom course. If youre free skiing, many unbalasted wakeboard boats are fine. Its on the course where the skier will see a huge difference in the wakes. I have never been pulled through the course with a wakeboard tow boat. Seems like it would be a lot of work. Ask the spouse if you can buy two boats!!

Thanks for the video and comments. We only free ski. My neighbor is buying a CB200 so "I" get the best if both worlds!! Looks like others will get to hop across the wake.

First post here. I currently am in a 2010 MC X15 with GSA. The GSA has made it a very capable surf boat but my wife hates the slalom wake. I am getting a center tab to hopefully help that some. About to turn 500 hours on the boat and while it has many years of life left, I am contemplating a new boat.

Here is my question. I like traditional boats. I really like the lines of the 230 much more so than the G23. A friend has a G23 and it is a great surf boat and very comfortable but in my opinion is not a good looking boat. I know many will disagree with that but to my eye I really like the traditional look. ON to the question, for those that ski your 230, do you lose anything by not having a ski pylon? the back hook appears to be pretty low. Also, does the hydro gate dampen the wake like a center tab?

Also, what are the difference in the 2014-2016 SAN 230's? Are the hulls the same? Is the NSS the same? Sorry for the noob questions.

thanks for the help guys and I hope to be in a new boat by next year.

Hulls and NSS are the same. Drive buy wire throttle in 2015 was a big improvement. The hydrogate does dampen the wake a bit, but it is still no slalom boat. Biggest problem with pulling off the back is that you can pull the boat around a little bit. Height is not an issue. If you want a better slalom wake, you may want to look at a 210 or sport. I don't think the 230 will be much better than your X-15 with a wake plate. Forward visibility, drivability, less noise (rattling from the tower and exhaust noise esp with the surf pipe) with the 230 and better surf wake. We also demoed an X-30 with Gen 2. This had the best slalom wake, it was just way under ballasted with the Gen 2 set up and I did see the potential to easily add additional ballast. The X-10 actually surfed better than the X-30 and would probably ski better , but I didn't ski behind it.
