    Ski Locker and Phat Sac

I can't find the post I saw the other day, but does anyone know the phat sac I should use for my ski locker on the 2000 SAN. I want to load it down for surfing.

Does anyone here have problems with the ski locker taking in water? Also I've noticed my carpet to be wet by the drivers seat but can't tell where the water is coming from - does this indicate a crack somewhere?

Does your boat have a heater? If so, your heater core might be cracked. Is the water hot?

I have a heater but I don't use it much - does that matter? Are you referring to the water by the seat or the ski locker - I assume the seat? My boat is up north at the cabin but I will take pictures next time I am up at the boat and post them to the site.

Water circulates through your heater core regardless of whether you use your heater or not. You probably have sprung a leak, there. I wouldn't be suprised if that water is making the area by your seat wet, plus making it down into your ski locker.

I've heard of some folks using the Skylon Locker Sack (http://www.wakeside.com/page/W/PROD/...on_locker_sack). I had a custom bag done by LetsGoRide but I don't think they're in business any longer.

Thank you jhiestand - how would I go about checking for the leak? Is this something I can do myself or do I have to have a dealer look at it?

Thank you for the info on the locker sack.

Usually the heater is located behind the driver footwell kick panel. The only way I'd know to troubleshoot it or check for leaks is to remove the kick panel, then visually inspect the heater while the boat is running. It might be leaking in the back where the water goes in/out, or if there is a leak in the core itself you probably will see water coming out of a corner of the heaterbox.

You can see what the heater core looks like on the Heatercraft web page (http://www.heatercraft.com/).

If you're not very handy, I'm sure your dealer could check it out for you. Hope this helps!

                Molly -
I own a 2000 SAN and the heater core let go in mine last year. (Took me forever to figure out why the carpet around the drivers feet was all soggy and warm...) I had the dealer fix - don't remember what the cost was, however.
Regarding the locker sac - we use the skylon version mentioned above by jhistand. It fills in the space nicely and really improves the wake when used in conjunction with the factory ballast.

Molly, I have tried several sacs in my old '01 SAN and the very best one is the
Pro X Series Rear Seat Bottom Sac. The dimensions are 12" x 26" x 62". If you measure your locker you will notice that they are the exact same dimensions. This sac is very very thick and has the quick disconnects that work with any pump. I have had the Skylon and the Launchpad sacs tear on me, this one will not tear. It is also very rectangular so it does not twist at all, it will fill and empty and never move. Not to mention you can get 680 lbs in it. Sounds like Alan-S has a good lead on a sack. One other thing you'll want to do is get in the locker with a dremel or sander and check for exposed screws. I cut about 4 ends off to ensure I didn't have anything poking into my locker sack.

Before you take out the kick panel, lift the Starboard bow cushion.
My heater is located there. (newer models have a cooler there). The core is not hard to replace. Six screws
and two hose clamps. Actually, mine is currently broken, so I removed
it and bypassed the heater core by connecting both ends of the
hose. I'll fix it later but didn't want to lose water time.

                        water in ski locker

Molly our 00 Super gets water in the ski locker as well, As far as I can tell it comes from the drain hole in the back of the locker. When you slow the boat ,water enters there from the bilge. You may have excessive water entering your bilge. My driveshaft packing is dripping more than I would like so I know thats where the water is getting in our bilge. Also I am using a freinds Get High Sports/ Big Bump 750 sac it fits very good in the ski locker...
