Looking at an 01 Super Air

I'm looking at buying an 01 Super Air Nautique. The boat is in very good condition and seems to be well cared for. The questions I have are about the wake. Is this a good wake for wakeboarding? I've read mixed reviews. Also, what is an 01 SAN, 300+ hours, very good shape worth? My boys are getting better and I was thinking about buying a more wakeboard specific boat. I was also wondering if it's possible to surf this hull as well. Any advice and information is appreciated.

I surf on one fairly often. It's great on the starboard (goofy) side. Can't say much about the port side (our crew all surfs goofy) but I know you need more weight to counteract the prop. I don't wakeboard but my buddy used to be fairly decent. He really liked the wake. -Marc

I think you would be very happy with the wakeboard wake. Many people still consider this one of the best hulls for wakeboarding there was. The hulls in these boats remained mostly unchanged through 2006.

That hull started big wakes in wakeboarding. It is a great wake. It is good with no weight in it or 3000lbs. What are they asking? Its probably worth 20-22k. Ive seen them going for less right now.

If its in good shape, I would say that is a decent price. If you could get it for $22k, I would say that would be a great deal. I bought my 02 SANTE 3 years ago for $26.5 and that was a good price then.

I like the wake, although, I am no expert and almost any wake works for me. It is a little sensitive to weight in the boat, so you sometimes have to move people around to eventhings out, but its no big deal. I don't surf, so can't comment on that.

Plan on replacing those digital gauges. If they haven't already failed, they will.

                Here's the kit:

                http://www.nautiqueparts.com/fariaga...blkgauges.aspx

Also, if they have already failed, I would be suspect of the hours listed. Without the gauges being functional, there is no way to get an accurate hour count. PP may have hours listed, but that can be reset, and PP may have been installed at some point after the boat was built. There is no way to pull hours from the ECM of a GT-40.

it's a great wake for wakeboarding, and i've seen quite a few people get good surf wakes out of them too. price is probably fair, but it's also the time of year to find them way cheaper. i've seen a few over the past couple weeks in the 19k-21k range.

Agreed. Same deal on my SAN. I also don't surf so can't comment on that but I'm more than happy with the wake.

I have the same hull in a 2003 vintage. We used to wakeboard a lot (100 plus hours a year just towing riders) but then after shoulder surgery we got really into surfing this season. We surf both goofy and regular. I have 750# sacs in the rear compartments and 400 in the belly and 600 in the bow. Filling just the rear on the surf side and all the rest, with 3 people on the surf side is a really clean wake at 9.8 MPH. Really love the surf wake, but nothing like the wakeboard wake. I miss riding that wakeboard wake, it is so easy to ride and has so much pop. I purchased my 2003 SAN labor day three years ago for 26K with 700 hours. Clean interior and I felt like it was a good deal and still is worth at least that much (maybe more with the upgrades I put into it (stereo, auto ballast, PP Stargazer, LED lighting, etc).

As others have said it is still regarded as one of the better wakeboard wakes around. That hull pulled all of the Nautique sponsored Pro wakeboard events through 2006 before the 230/236 came around.

There are better surf boats out there for sure but you can definitely get a surfable wave out of it and have some fun. The port side wave takes more weight to get right but it's definitely doable.

That first boat seems like an ok asking price but you should be able to get him down this time of year. I'd probably pass on that blue boat with the moomba trailer. Looks like it needs a full interior job so that is $3K+ right there and then that trailer probably doesn't fit the boat correctly. good luck on your search.

Unless you want to do a lot of work , the first one seems a better deal to me. I have a PAN year 2000 vintage, really love the wake for wakeboarding, need to load it well for surfing. Save yourself some trouble, and buy the one that's in better shape!!
