    DD Air Nautique Maneuvering

Ok - Asking for some help here. I have heard you can spin one of the direct drive boats basically in one spot.

    How does one do this?

I have a slip leased and I need this maneuver to get in and out efficiently.

    Cheers!
    Brett

backs to the left, short bumps between forward and reverse with the steering full right will push the back clockwise around the nose with the nose of the boat barely moving.

don't even think about trying it in the other direction, won't work.

Thanks mikeski. I have a paired slip with the dock on port side. Pretty easy when returning to dock with just a tight s-turn to get in. Leaving all I can do is back out and do a 270-deg turn which is not easy in the odd arrangement of the marina. More practice is in order.

Thanks Mikeski - definitely used to the back to the left. The problem is that backing out of the slip (to the left) leaves me facing the wrong way to leave the marina. Have to pull the 270-deg move to get out and it is TIGHT.

I probably have 1.5 boat lengths to work with behind the slip. At most

            My 2 cents -
            1) wheel all the way to the left (counter clockwise) and bump reverse.
            2) wheel all the way to the right (clockwise) and bump forward.

            Repeat.

So for you, getting out, wheel all the way left and start backing out. When you think you have enough clearance, wheel right and bump forward. It's OK to pause a little between bumps. If you can juice it a little to push you in one direction, that's OK too, just don't stay on it.

There's a ramp in Tega Cay, SC that's a little lagoon...probably 2-3 boat lengths in diameter. You have to do this exact thing before exiting a 15 foot exit. It's tight.

            Hope this helps.

I installed a hydro hoist bumper on the slip because we rub it every time we come in. I come in straight but have to abruptly reverse which shifts the rear over and I rub it. It's a life saver
