Hi all, new to the forum here from Indiana. I have been looking for a Sport Nautique to purchase in my area for quite some time and came across this one today. I'm taking a look at it tomorrow, I'm concerned with the amount of hours on the boat. Owner says it's at 1200 with a new carb put on, cam, heads, etc. How long can be expected for the 5.8 Pro boss to run for? Any advice on the boat or things to look out for is much appreciated, Thanks! (Sorry if posted in wrong section). http://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/boa/4459718799.html

Check if the boat is really a 93. It is the first year they started with fiber stringers and would be a real bonus. check the hull number. Last 3 digits should be like 3X3. Modelyear & built year.
10K is not a bad price for the boat if everything is good (trailer, engine, transmission, upholstery).
The engine can last for 3000hrs if maintained correctly. Check the compression on the engine.230 with ZR6 running on propane

Ok good deal, ya I heard that fiberglass stringers started in 93 I was gonna make sure it was the case on this boat I don't want to get wooden for sure. Ok thanks I doubt I'll look at the boat after all. Thanks for saving me a trip! I'm just interested in 93 up cause no wood stringers and have heard those years are a lot better then the past. Pretty sad when a person is trying to sell a boat and they don't even know what year they have! LolOriginally posted by Lewy2001 View PostThat is a Gen 1 Sport 89-92. (integrated swim platform) Will have wood stringers.
93 is a totally different hull.

Lewy beat me to it. Defiantly not a 93. 93 is a much better hull as well. I was never a big fan of the 89-92 sport with the integrated platform. I would pass on that one and keep my eye out. I see you are in Indiana but I don't know of anything we have or anything else for sale I could direct you towards.Zach@n3boatworks.com

How about a SNOB? Cheaper and actually a 93. Great slalom wake similar interior space the only thing you forfeit is the open bow is accessible via a walk over dash instead of a walk thru section.Zach@n3boatworks.com

Pritchett is that you? This is Bryant Hall. I would like to have the walk-through style for sure, can you keep an eye out for me on 93 and up Sports with the walk through? Saw that 2001 you just picked up off 38, lookin good!Originally posted by Zach@n3 View Posthttp://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/4459817448.html

Thanks for the link, looks great! That's way out of my range though, I'm basically looking at all of Indiana's surrounding states, not much luck found a few in Michigan may take a look at. Still 4 hr. Drive though...Originally posted by kylem03 View PostTake a look at this if you are willing to travel!

Don't rule out a road trip! Depending on the deal it can still be worth it. I drove 26 hrs 1 way to pick up my '94 sport last spring and don't regret it a bit. Fuel, food, and lodging cost me $1k and it was still a heck of a deal figuring that In to what I paid. Didn't pay for my time tho but everyone needs a spontaneous "vacation" now and again!Originally posted by bhall2009 View PostThanks for the link, looks great! Well after driving 8 hours to North Carolina and then 8 hours back without a boat its kind of spoiled my thought of traveling that far. The owner of that boat lied about every question I asked him and he sent me pictures of the boat from when he bought it from the previous owner not how it sits now. Thats the only thing i can figure anyway. It was in awful condition when I got there, it was a complete nightmare and a waste of money. You just can't trust people to go that far, he even knew how far I was coming from, maybe he thought I was going to take it regardless of what it looked like or ran because of that reason. I have learned my lesson...Originally posted by kylem03 View PostDon't rule out a road trip! Depending on the deal it can still be worth it. Anyone on this board in the area to offer to do a pre-inspection for him?? That would solve the drive for nothing problem. If its not a competition ski boat, its always second best.
