Another cash buyer looking to ski behind a G23. Only seen pics of a wakeboat? But you have four boats? And never went to a boat show or dealer who carried wakeboats? I'm buying it. Check out MC's X80, great ski/wakeboat!

It's sad to see a group of people do nothing but rip on someone who's interested in our sport and our boat of choice. Ya, it wasn't a great question but making fun of someone getting into the sport is f'd up. Try being constructive instead of being a dick behind a computer screen.

I've only seen pics of the G23. Seen plenty of wake boats just never paid attention to them until my oldest daughter who is 15 went on a wake boat with a friend and had a blast. The very next week I bought a 236 Chaparral thinking it had a tower and all "roll boats" are the same. My kids got descent, and bored. Now I am researching the situation. Being a forums member on Offshoreonly, Riverdaves,Powerboatnation I knew Natique would have a forum. My local dealer in California is a Natique dealer. Where I live in New Mexico is a 12 hour drive from our river house. I rely on internet info a lot and this forum has been great. I didn't realize a person had to show a financial before asking dumb questions. I've always said I don't know a **** thing about wake boats. But I know other boats very well. I called my neighbor who has an X2 and he said to look at the new G23 because that's what he would buy. So that's where I started about a week ago.Originally posted by SAN210 #976 View PostAnother cash buyer looking to ski behind a G23. Only seen pics of a wakeboat? But you have four boats? If you are looking for the top notch wakeboat out there, then the G23 is definitely what you should be looking at. It's great for wakeboarders of a levels.
Depending on how serious you want to get while skiing behind the G23, it might be just fine. I'm no expert on skiing but, I'd say you'd be okay crossing the wakes if you are just looking to be cutting across at a slow to medium/slow pace. Anything more intense than that is going to get a little scary, in my opinion.2018 SAN G23 XR550

Just out of morbid curiosity - I would like to see what would happen if someone tried to do a HARD slalom cut at high speed.. across the wake of a full-ballast G. Maybe for an episode of jackass?Originally posted by ironj32 View PostIf you are looking for the top notch wakeboat out there, then the G23 is definitely what you should be looking at. I would say the Nautique Sport 200 is the boat if you are wanting to ski, wakeboard and wakesurf - the wake can be as small as the ski 200's and once you fill the ballast its great for wake boarding and add a few fat sacs the wake is great for wake surfing.
I've been in the G23 and G25 (with surf gate) and they are AWESOME boats but for skiing i can't see that being that great. I have a SAN 220 (07) and the wake is big for skiers...

Result would probably be the same for the average wakeboarder who is running around the lake pushing those type of monster wakes, a yard sale on the other side.Originally posted by biggator View PostJust out of morbid curiosity - I would like to see what would happen if someone tried to do a HARD slalom cut at high speed.. across the wake of a full-ballast G. From what I see out there, huge wakes like that are total overkill for most who are making them.

Hey newmexico, I was just playing around with you. If you got that kind of cash get a 210 and a 200 and have the best of both worlds.
Hey rmiller, before your bleedig heart runs out for all of your concern over the confused skiers of the world, just know that I poke fun at my family and friends just the same as they do me. Hiding behind a computer screen, good Lord I'm not trying to pick a fight with the guy. I was just a funny comment. Wake up from your soccer mom, everyone gets a trophy world and laugh a little.

From what it *sounds* like you really want I wouldn't hesitate to get the G23. The reason I say that is it sounded like the initial reason you bought your other boat was because your kid had a great time on a wakeboard boat. In that light (reading between the lines a bit) despite the title of your post, I'd say this boat is what you want if you want a great wakeboard boat. The reason I say that is I've seen a couple very younger kids riding this wake and they seemed to handle it very well. If you don't like how it skis behind it, it sounds like you've got enough change to keep a nice ski boat around anyway so what's holding you back?
As for the tone of the response from some on the forum, I'm new here and as I was reading through if I would have been the OP I would have felt attacked and slighted. I don't believe everyone should get a trophy, but I do believe in common courtesy. While the question seems crazy, it isn't if the person asking is just asking because they are wondering "just how bad is it".
For instance, my dad has owned a bayliner his entire life and slaloms behind it. He wanted to slalom behind my wakesetter 23 LSV and I tried to tell him it would be a horrible experience. He just ran a bit of a longer line going roughly 30 and he said that it wasn't bad at all - just had to adjust to all the power pulling him up. So while the passionate skiiers wouldn't want to be bombing back and forth over it, for someone like my dad who isn't absolutely bombing back and forth, they might not care.
JMHO.

This thread has gotten way off track. That said, a couple simple searches would have concluded the G23 is not for any type of skiing.
The G23 is a great boat and I haven't even driven one yet. I'm mad I didn't wait to get one. Next year. I like the Sport 200, a bit small for me, but great boat.
A couple other simple searches we tell you about the SV211 and 2007 and new 210. I'll save you the trouble on the 211, don't get one. I've owned one.
Sell all your boats. Buy with CASH (your comment not mine) a G23 with a 450HP. 550HP if you want. Go find a 1997-2001 Ski Nautique 196 for 14K and 400 hours to ski with. Now if your body of water doesn't allow great skiing, turn your ski(s) into a shot-ski (yes making one now), buy a nice bottle of tequila, couple wakeboards and couple surf boards (guessing you haven't tried this sport yet) and have fun and the G23. Leave the tequila at the house for when you return.
OH they make a G25 that might fit the picture better coming from a 28' I/O with 800HP.

Its all good! I spoke with salesman today, it was kindve funny that he said a 75 ft rope would be about same as skiing behind Chaparral at 50 ft.rope. I thought to myself, "Try saying that to a really good wake boarder on Nautique forums! Only thing stopping the progress is this particular boat sits 9.5 on trailer and my garage is 9ft. Working with a trailer company now.

If you want the G and can buy it ourtright, get it, learn to board and surf, and don't look back. If you want to ski as well, lots of options exist, as this thread shows. For me, I've been quite happy with my 211. I've been able to set it up to do just about everything we need it to do. It'll never have the biggest wake on the lake, but my bank account is happier.2009 211 Crossover; Triple White
